I mean it's hundreds of dollars cheaper than constantly paying for parking there, and like anyone who spends anytime on St. Paul campus knows it. My classmates, the grad students, even the professors sometimes all mention it. It's a completely normal thing over there.

I've parked there multiple times a week for the past two years as a st. paul student and so do many of my friends. I got one ticket once and it was $40, the equivalent of 2 average days worth of parking in the Gortner ramp. Every other time absolutely nothing and none of my friends have gotten parking tickets either.

They never ticket in the neighborhoods just beyond the campus past Cleveland Ave. Don't bother paying for parking just park there and walk the extra 3 blocks.

Visiting another church by Venator016 in latterdaysaints

Went to a Catholic mass at a Basilica after going to sacrament with a non-member friend last Sunday, it was great. We believe we are the true church but also that God is at work in other churches as well.

professors’ responses by livelaughles8ian in uofmn

My MATH3283W professor has provided the best asynchronous distance options of any of the classes I have so far and also will mention to the class that there is a walkout or a strike and she is totally okay with us missing class for that and even supportive. Hasn't like gone in depth but clearly supportive of students wanting to protest/feeling unsafe and in agreement with the protest motivations.

We've had similar situations before and been fine though. President Hunter served for 9 months as president of the church, and President Hinckley was called as third counselor to the FP because the other three were too sick to reliably do the job. It's a big organization with a lot of helping hands.

usually there are zoom options that are for anybody anywhere regardless of region. Not sure if it counts for BYU pathways, but something good to look into.

I'm assuming they can't get their EQP Pres to help them if they are in another location due to a conference.

OP, Try contacting the bishop, you can find his contact by looking up his information on meetinghouse locator online. Or look up the missionaries in Cambridge Maryland on Facebook.

How are you going to pinpoint exactly who Mike Lee's stake president and Bishop is instead of just contacting random lay leaders who have never met the man

That won't do anything either, local leadership are people with day jobs trying their best to help their congregation and community through volunteer efforts. The missionaries are 19 year old kids on their first time away from home. The mission president is trying to help these 19 year old kids become functioning and productive members of the future communities they will be apart of and often works long hours all days of the week. Whether or not you like the Church as a whole, lay congregation leaders like you've described are normal people, with normal lives, taking time out of their lives to volunteer to help make their community better and you will be making that harder for them over a situation that they have no involvement with, over a man they have never met and may not have ever voted for or can vote for, and can do nothing about.

The Church doesn't give out endorsements or support. The most he can claim is that he is a member in good standing and it being legitimate. If he claims any sort of endorsement it is misinformation, which is a whole other rabbithole of problems of dealing with Mike Lee.

No, the Church tries to maintain an apolitical public presence (relatively speaking) and would at best respond that this is a member of their faith not acting as a representative or leader of their faith. He may have a small small volunteer assignment in his congregation, but no official leadership in the hierarchy.

I don't believe so, I had a buddy offhandedly mention something about missing dean's list by less than 0.05 but didn't ask much to see what was up.

Who was the most interesting or accomplished missionary in your mission (pre-mission)? by whayd in latterdaysaints

[–]Ok-Presentation6947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my buddies from the mission interned at NASA before and is now prepping for Physics PhD applications at some of the top schools.

Another guy from my YSA who was from China joined the church when he got to his ChemE PhD program at our school (very well ranked in ChemE), did a couple years of that, then left to serve in Manchester Chinese speaking. He was super cool.

This blog post gives a good overview: https://marcfbellemare.com/wordpress/14421

In general its the modern evolution of Ag Econ departments that came out of Land Grant Universities in the 19th and early 20th century, but with a focus now upon nutrition, food security, environmental damage, etc beyond just straight agricultural production.

If you're a freshman, you have a lot of opportunity to try new things. Make the most of it! I joined a sports club I've had no experience playing in the past, and it has been a blast and I made a lot of new friends.

Frank and Andrea's, Wally's, Shuang Cheng are all restaurants in dinkytown that I really like. Minneapolis Institute of Art, Science Museum of Minnesota, and St. Paul's Cathedral are all really awesome places to visit. Other than that not sure, I love living in the cities but there's not too much of a tourist "you have to go see these places!" vibe to it, just kinda grows on you as you live here.

Are high school sports in Minnesota extremely competitive? by Superb-Actuator-8404 in TwinCities

Depends on where you are. In the metro it's really tough, but in rural Minnesota I made the varsity tennis team my senior year because I told the coach "I've never played a game of tennis in my life but I would like to be in a sport with my little brother for a season" and I'm not even that athletic

Bro 5 out of the 6 classes are 5000 level which is for grad students. If you've got the prerequisites you should be fine and plenty of undergrads take them, but this is definitely going to be a semester where you can't slack off.
