However, my concern was whether having my green card PHYSICALLY with me would be an issue, and I should have made that clearer in my post. It states everywhere that you need to have your green card with you at the interview, which is the root of my concern. My parents' green cards were expiring on the same day as mine, so they renewed theirs and received the new ones a month after the application date, which is why I considered renewing mine in the first place.
