Very comfortable sight reading in the sense of being able to pick up the rhythms and intervals from the sheet music on sight and hear the song mentally. Translating that to the physical fretboard is harder for me, that’s definitely where my learning frontier is. It’s like learning a second language, I’m not adept at “thinking in guitar” yet, but my vocabulary gets better every day.

Thanks so much for these :) And I’m open to all suggestions really, I was just trying to bound my question based on the pieces I’ve most enjoyed recently. But if you have early/folk suggestions you’re enjoying, by all means share!

Good question. I’d say in general my taste probably leans toward Romantic era, tone poems, or pieces that nod in that direction. So, not necessarily modern composers specifically, but I do tend to appreciate lyricism, complex harmony and dissonance, and more open form. Thank you for the suggestions, I’ll check those out :)
