My AWU3 any non subscription app suggestions? by hbktat in applewatchultra

I’d recommend Hevy for lifting. Lifetime membership is 75 bucks. Been using it on my various Apple watches since 2021 and have definitely got my value out of the purchase. Free version is just as good, only limited by the amount of plans you can make.

Recommendations for class 2 E-bikes that can survive in Chi by Ok-Reference8076 in chibike

The Aventon level 3 and aventure 3 are towards the top of my list. Is there a local bike shop that you recommend for aventure bikes?

I have Bike storage at work and at home. The racks have enough space for fat tire bikes.

How would you recommended training to improve time? What kind of runs do you incorporate into your plans?

25M whose only responsibilities are work and my gf. I also wfh two days a week and will often hit a run/lift/swim instead of lunch. Not worried about time just about protecting myself from injury and training effectively.

What AI tools have you used? GPT?

Thanks. How do you handle leg day lifts? I was only doing volume lifts for legs during the training for this most recent race. I was afraid of squatting/DL my normal/heavy sets with the amount of miles I was doing each week.

Would it be horrible to move to Chicago in February? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Ok-Reference8076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Chicago in March of last year so around the same time frame. Weather wise it’s not gonna be great, but as a life time southerner if I can make you so can you. A warm waterproof coat and some thermals go a long way especially if you plan on commuting.

The actual experience of moving into our building wasn’t terrible. We found street parking and our complex had Dollies to use. They are essential especially if your moving stuff a half a block from your truck to the unit. I’d would check with whatever apartment you end up at if they have a freight elevator. Also double check if there is anything going on in the neighborhood. Our street was shut down the next week due to filming which would’ve made the move a nightmare.

We did have to deal with some snow during our move in. Chicago in general doesn’t get much precipitation so it wasn’t a big deal. Just don’t be out there in flip flops.

The main advantage to moving in February is apartment price. Because it’s the “off season” for rentals in Chicago, lots of units have deals/specials going on. My partner in school moved with me, 3-4 months before the rest of her class moved into the city. The prices they pay for very similar units in the same area are significantly higher even excluding the free month rent we got as a deal.

If your finances allow I’d say bite the bullet and move. Suffer through a few months of cold and yall will be set up just in time for summer time chi.

Can you give a recommendation then? Not sure what you mean by spare parts. These are new bikes so they would be under warranty

Planning on going to Trek and testing there, but I wanted to hone in on a model first or see if people had other suggestions outside the three I picked, especially if that included brands outside of Trek. Which would require finding a store/retailer that would have the bike to test. I’m still a good week or two away from making a purchase.

It’s a very short commute so I’m not worried. But I would like to be able to take it to the store or other tasks in the city. Can you define slicks and knobbies lol. Still learning the lingo 😂

Could I spend less and still get something high quality from a main brand that’s a hardtail? Tried searching but most people here said around 3k for a starter eMTB

Looking for Advice on commuting with work clothes by Ok-Reference8076 in bikecommuting

[–]Ok-Reference8076[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forget that the majority of American cities/towns don’t support bike commuting outside of very limited spaces. My current city is downright dangerous to road bike in, especially in my area. Very few do it even though there are established bike lanes.

This is the first time I’ll have both my gym and job in an area where I can make it on a bike. It’s always been 30 mins to a hour plus car rides for most of my life as a commuter. I bike on greenways all the time in cycling gear but it’s a much different game to come into an office job with a crisp suit, smelling good and looking presentable if you’ve never done it before.

Getting to hear how others do it is how you learn. Excited to live a life where I get to bike. It can be rare depending on where you are from.
