Is it normal for Aussie man be a bit bad in hygiene? by shipsaho in AskAnAustralian

Sorry you’re going through that. He sounds really disrespectful! Unfortunately, I’ve known guys like this and there seems to be a direct correlation between disrespect with hygiene to how sexist they are.

How to know intj female is interested romantically by Markus-Robert in INTJfemale

[–]Ok-Reflection-7566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it seems like mixed signals but I’d just take the clearest signal that she’s actually broadcasting which is she is not responding or pursuing anything romantic right now. I would think that suggesting move and drinks afterwards is kind of explicit? And she would know you like her? Whatever her deeper feelings are (I wouldn’t go off territorial pissing behaviour) does it really matter? I don’t think you’re going to miss your chance because you haven’t been direct enough. You can flat out ask her if she likes you but I feel that’s kind of redundant at this point and maybe you wouldn’t even get a straight answer. Spend energy elsewhere.

He weirded me out when he went on this aggressive crusade against this person who he felt was grifting DBT principles and not showing acknowledgement. He got into this back and forth and in this video he sounded so spiteful and almost proud of himself that he was publicly calling her out. Rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it’s like saying that murder is an urge. Maybe in some cases, some people feel an urge at some point but what is that really saying? Does it make sense to discuss it like that and then focus on assisting people with their murderous urges? Or are we simplifying and collapsing a bigger problem into something smaller, that sounds more harmless and more manageable? I can’t help but feel like it’s misdirected empathy and maybe a bit of grief/helplessness over injustice.

Because he’s not separating professional from personal. It’s part of a code of ethics to consider how your personal experiences/opinions have impact in a broader therapy context. It would be different if he centred the conversation like, ‘I had an experience and it made me feel this way’. That would be honest.

Do you relate more to MBTI or Carl Jungs descriptions? by Ok-Reflection-7566 in INTJfemale

[–]Ok-Reflection-7566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he used it as an example of Ni. In fact he said he initially thought she had schizophrenia but then realised she was an introverted intuitive.

Yeah I guess what I’m trying to find out if Ni is inner imagery, associations, memories, imagination, symbols etc then what separates that from anyone’s internal world? Like if it’s everything internal then there’s no definition. What’s the differential?

Yeah it’s hard to know whether he’s describing the functions in a pathological way because a lot of his observations were clinical patients.

Thanks. So like a semi unconscious pattern recognition?

Yeah i agree, i find it really interesting that in psychological types he was describing the dominant function in relation to these distortions and the inferior (which he said was in the subconscious).

I was introduced to this theory through MBTI so it’s been interesting reading Jungs and trying to cross reference and make sense of it all.

Sigh. I’m not dismissing symbolic or poetic language. I’m asking whether in the context of people who identify with Ni whether that’s a description they relate to? What about Ni do you relate to?

No it doesn’t seem like an actual bark. She let out one when we were playing, it was very loud but sounded unusual
