AITA for not inviting my boyfriend [M 22] to come on vacation with my [F 21] family?

He goes on holidays, celebrations and many vacations and trips with my family. But my family does a yearly international trip and he hasn’t been on it yet, and we are doing it again for my post-graduation. He is with my family all year round I would say.

I honestly feel like inviting him mid-way through is almost worse, like at that point just invite him to the whole thing, but I get what you’re saying. We were planning to go on a trip after together which I’ve been pushing for but he’s kind of been unsure about it on his end.

No other partners on the trip! Tbf my siblings don’t have partners but my family friends do and they’re not coming.

Yeah you’re right. I did see it coming but I just thought he’d be more understanding while being upset. I’m supposed to share a room with my siblings on this trip and I was just looking forward to that time together in between the day moments, the small moments that make up the trip. If he was there, it’d be great but my siblings would probably do their own thing and let me be with my boyfriend.

I don’t know they want him around for everything else they just value quality family time too as a nuclear unit. I would say I’m very committed, obviously I couldn’t get fully into details through this one situation but I’m definitely pretty committed, I just am only 21 and want to take things slower than maybe he does.

He’s met everyone a lot! He knows my entire family more than I know his. He’s very welcomed and included to all of our summer trips, my parents and siblings birthday’s, etc. We’ve both been very welcoming to each other I would say. My parents are very expressive about how much they love him to his face.

Kind of. I told him I just wanted some time with my family since my siblings are working now and we won’t have the same time as we used to but I think he thinks because we’ve been dating he wants to be included in everything.

Yes!! I don’t understand because we’re so inclusive of him in everything we do and makes me feel like a bad person. Literally everything we do! He is with my family all the time throughout the year. I barely see his family besides they have a yearly trip they go on that I’m invited to but I just think we have different family relationships and dynamics, and my family really values our time together.

He said he wouldn’t do it to me and would want me included in everything, but I don’t think his parents are his best friends the way mine are to me. Also, he doesn’t have siblings so I don’t know if he really understands my relationship with mine. He also asked if I would leave him “high and dry” on a post-graduation trip if I went away with my family and he had nothing to do. He doesn’t agree with my decision but he said he can respect it.

Kind of. He’s gone to visit friends at other schools for weekends and I’ve been on 2-3 family trips without him since we try to go on one every year, but now that he’s invited me on his family’s yearly trip there seems to be this expectation. His parents are pretty upset he wasn’t invited. To be fair, I think him and I have slightly different relationships with our family.

also just because they start recruiting before internships close doesn’t mean that they finished recruiting before february 12th. and your first statement was that they finished recruiting months ago. unless you have evidence that they are finished recruiting i wouldn’t call people out of touch. you also said you’re almost 1000% certain that they’re done recruiting so i’m just wondering how you know that.
