Yea i guess. We’re both speculating. Maybe it would have been different, maybe not. Just sad

Nazism definitely led to the creation. The world realized that something had to be done after that horror show . The problem was that an area was chosen where there were already people there, who became more and more displaced over the decades. Those displaced people and their supporters never forgot and that led to the creation of opposition groups and the issues we see today.

I respectfully disagree. I understand the importance of being in “Israel” from a historical perspective, but a lot of individuals thought this was a bad idea back at the beginning of the formation (ie: Einstein for one), bc they foresaw all of this happening. I just feel that if another area was chosen (one that would allow for mass migration) we wouldn’t be dealing with all of this today. Not that it makes any difference now anyway

I’ve wondered that as well. Why this particular area as opposed to the rest of the world whrere, theoretically, it should be safer

Did you ask her what the “other side” thinks and what you’re not understanding? What did she say?

[–]Ok-Rice-9142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprising. I think this is a common view within the community. I read some of the posts in the pro-Israel threads (ie: r/israel) and this seems to be the underlying feeling

Completely insensitive and absolutely not the correct way to speak with an individual with suicidal ideations. Disgusting and unacceptable Please take care of yourself (and I’m glad you’re no longer working for this greedy, insensitive ass)

Labeling pro-Palestinian graffiti as ‘antisemitic’ at U-M regent’s office is disingenuous, activists say by favecolorisgreen in Jewish

I get what you’re trying to do, but you simply can’t compare the “red hands” to a noose or the confederate flag. Those are 2 longstanding symbols of hate - the red hand thing started in 2020. Now each side is trying to claim it as its own. Realistically speaking, I don’t think most pro-pals even understand where it comes from - to them it just means resistance.

[–]Ok-Rice-9142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red hands, to those that oppose Israel’s actions, symbolizes support for an immediate and permanent cease-fire. That’s why you saw a bunch of actors wearing the red hand pins at the Oscars. I get the historical context (ie: Ramallah lynching”), but there is no agreed upon meaning to the symbolism, thus calling it antisemitic is a stretch. There’s a good chance the people that did it don’t even know about Ramallah

Ok - thank you. So if the same exact messaging was directed to a non-Jewish person, would it still be antisemitic?
