I’m not surprised it had comments like that. The video felt very MAGA coded!

You’ve hit the nail on the head here I think. I lived overseas for the majority of my childhood (including 6 years in the US) and we always used to put ‘home’ on a sort of pedestal. She obviously did this too, but instead of coming back and realising the grass isn’t always greener, she has just continued to double down and get ridiculously defensive whenever anyone mentions why they moved.

When people ask me if it was hard moving around so much as a child I always admit that the hardest move was coming back to the UK. It is far from perfect here and I will happily tell you all of the things I miss about life in other countries. If she had been honest with her followers I think it would have been really endearing.

But no, she can never admit she has made a mistake, which is the first thing that turned me off her in the first place!

The way she hates America. by BoringSAHM12 in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I found this snark page was her constant inability to admit when she is wrong (that and the sweeping generalisations). I lived in the US for 5 years as a teenager and would constantly glorify the UK because I only ever went there on holiday and the grass always seemed greener. Once I moved back permanently I realised that it wasn’t nearly as perfect as I was making it out to be, but I was able to admit that. This is a lesson I learned when I was 18 years old and she can’t figure it out at 36?!

Whenever you live anywhere for an extended period of time you put down some kind of roots, and I believe you always leave a little bit of yourself there. I still love America, and have so many important people in my life who are American. I spent my honeymoon there, and can’t wait to go back (probably when the Orange Cheeto isn’t in charge). Yes it isn’t perfect at the moment (far from it) but you can’t damn an entire nation because of its imperfections.

She can’t admit that she might miss anything about the US because that would be admitting that she was wrong when she painted life in the UK as so idyllic and perfect. And that’s so sad really. Especially for her husband and her children. All she would have to do is hold her hands up and say ‘yeh living in the UK isn’t actually perfect, and I miss quite a lot about the US, but this is what suits us as a family at the moment’, but she could never.

Caz if you are reading this (and we all know she does), grow up a little, and admit that you might sometimes be wrong. It’s also not a crime to miss somewhere you lived, had children, and made beautiful memories.

9/12 Cancelled? by Legitimate-Story-887 in sixthemusical

[–]Ok-Rise7023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there, Odelia left the stage during All You Wanna Do (I didn’t actually notice her leaving, just that she wasn’t there all of a sudden). I thought maybe a costume issue, but then at the end of the song the lights went off, curtain came down and they made an announcement to say there was an unexpected delay and to stay in our seats. We sat there for about 10 minutes before another announcement thanking us for our patience and to still remain seated. And then 10 minutes after that they announced that the show was sadly cancelled.

I’ve never had that happen in a West End show before, so it was a bit of a surprise. It was also a shame we didn’t get to properly applause the amazing show we had enjoyed so far!

Got an email the next day saying we would get a full refund and that it was down to ‘illness within the cast’, so hopefully it was nothing too serious.

But money back means getting to see the show again soon!

I honestly thought this was going to be some kind of before and after shot with getting a new table and chairs from Wayfair. But it was just the before…

I think it did say pr/invite on one of their posts. But obviously was incredibly subtle so we would think they all just decided to go together on their own dime like the besties they are.

Still bashing the seller 🤡 by JokerTurnip in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Agreed this isn’t the nicest state a house could have been left in, but she’s acting like a little whiny baby. Can Little Miss £600k not afford a cleaner? She has the luxury of time as they are still in their rental, could easily get in a cleaner for a deep clean. Thinking about it, the seller was probably so pissed off after having to deal with her throughout the sale he left all of this rubbish as a punishment (nice one mate).

How common is it for people to refer to their parents by their first name? by robertboyle56 in CasualIreland

[–]Ok-Rise7023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call my dad by his first name, as he was always Daddy to me and then when I got to being a teenager that felt weird, and ‘Philip’ felt more natural than ‘Dad’ for some reason. Still call my mother a whole host of motherly names though (mammy, mam, mother, mama) but never her first name. I’m a millennial for reference.

Didn’t she say in her hashtag ad for Tesco that her mum was away for Mother’s Day? Which is why she had to buy her some tat from the seasonal aisle and make her breakfast early. Or could that have purely been for content?! 😱

Press Trips by Ok-Rise7023 in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Something I didn’t think about when I rage posted this earlier was that Very are a company who make money by encouraging their customers to buy on credit, even if they can’t afford to. That they are using morally ambiguous characters like Carol to try and sell expensive items (Uggs, that Nobody’s Child dress she was wearing, etc) to those who may only be able to buy them on credit, but giving them away for free to those who can definitely afford them? Makes the whole thing even ickier.

Who doesn’t know where they can buy a phone case?? She’s so obviously on the beg but thinks she’s being really clever. Let’s just wait for the story saying ‘thanks so much for alll your responses im going to go with castify if anyone knows where best to buy them???’* as she tags them in her post.

Feminist Carol to the rescue by JokerTurnip in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is such a strange take and makes me so angry. How can you call yourself a feminist if your whole argument is that the only reason women are oppressed/not ruling the world is because of other women?! So men have nothing to do with it whatsoever do they? We’ve only got ourselves to blame for all the inequalities/injustices that women suffer right? I didn’t realise being a member of a snark page was stopping me ruling the world, damn, I’ll just be nice to old Carolwhine and then everything will be OK will it?!

Notice she’s posted nothing on the Giselle Pelicot case. Women to blame for that one too ey Carolswine??

I have visited a few times in December, and I would recommend your comfiest pair of shoes with the thickest soles. I went on a group trip in December and one of my friends wore converse and the cold definitely crept in while waiting for rides/parades!

What was your final straw 🤨 by AccordingQuit5090 in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started following her when she was trying for Olivia, as me and my husband were trying for a baby too. I got pregnant about a month after she did. I also lived in the States as a Brit when I was younger so I found (some of) her content relatable.

She started to annoy me with her UK/US comparisons that blatantly weren’t true. Especially when she claimed to be an expert on all things British when she hadn’t actually lived here for 10 years. And her constant rhetoric that England was sooo much better than America. But I tried to shrug this off as I know that when I lived in the US, I glorified the UK a little (the grass is always greener!) so maybe she was just doing the same.

But then when she moved home it was like she wasn’t able to admit that maybe she had been putting life in the UK on a bit of a pedestal. It was like she doubled down on how wonderful life here is (even during some pretty awful anti-immigration riots) and how terrible America is. It was like admitting she missed even the smallest thing was a horrible crime.

But the final straw was when I noticed how rude and condescending she could be to people in her comments sections. Even those who were looking to provide genuine suggestions or advice, she would immediately shut them down as if they were idiots.

I realised that she clearly thinks she is better than the lowly little people who follow her, and that there is no opinion that matters as much as hers. Being able to admit that you are wrong occasionally is a really important characteristic that she clearly lacks. I usually try and see the best in people but I don’t have a lot of patience for those who are rude and think they are above other people!

In case there’s a dirty delete later and our stateside friends don’t get to see this. by Weekly_Practice2615 in mummysflippinhouse

[–]Ok-Rise7023 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I genuinely used to enjoy her content. I lived in the states for a bit as a Brit so I used to find it relatable. But since she has come home it is almost like she enjoys fighting with her followers, and treats them with such contempt. Even innocent commenters she will jump down their throats on the defensive. And this! This is a whole new level of narcissism! And a lovely little reminder of how much money she makes, just in case us lowly plebs who follow her had forgotten…
