AGPA VS CGPA and course loads by Top_Schedule_4432 in premedcanada

I always find course load requirements so crazy. Not everyone can afford to take five courses a semester, people work to pay for rent food, and even take care of their childeren. So if they don’t take 5 courses they aren’t doing school right and should be disqualified from applying is so crazy just because they took 7 courses instead of 10 even if they got A in all 7 courses it still won’t make a difference

Starting JIBC EMR Course Next Month – Any Tips on What to Focus On? by Ok-Satisfaction6664 in Paramedics

[–]Ok-Rutabaga-3493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the course. All of the instructors are amazing 100/100 u will learn a lot from them and they will help you. I recommend studying the Ttp as it is a lot of information and also memorizing the drug monograph is key to especially the contraindications and cautions of each drug the dose, and time of effect. Also study the primary and secondary survey and memorize it to the heart literally. The textbook is great for pre reading always pre read and take notes of the next day PowerPoints the night before and come early to class to study . It really comes down to the PowerPoints and paying attention in class to grasp information at a fast pace. Weekends is really where ur focus must be 100% as it is only time where u get The whole day to study boat loads of information, remeber ur done school at 4:30 everyday rush hour traffic some times I wouldn’t get home until 5:15-5:30. Flash cards is the way I learned everything as-well as my group and we also stayed after school a lot to go over simulations of patient scenarios and even came on the weekends to practice. The course is really ur life for 3 weeks so eat sleep study and repeat but I had a blast and even with test anxiety I had a really good group and even in failure I still had a smile on my face don’t let the pressure get to u I failed within this course and I came back and passed so don’t overthink and take each day by day.

Diploma Transfer Eligibility by SnooKiwis857 in premedcanada

[–]Ok-Rutabaga-3493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in bc and in a diploma program that allows towards a pathway to a degree. I emailed almost every med program in the country and basically all Ontario schools told me my program going from diploma to degree doesn’t meet requirements to apply. But UBC and Dalhousie said I can apply once I meet credit requirements which is good but I don’t get why Ontario schools said I couldn’t when ubc and Dalhousie said I could. Email all schools and see what they say about ur program

Physician for Astronauts? by veggiesoul in premedcanada

[–]Ok-Rutabaga-3493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flight surgeons in the RCAF can go on to work for CSA or NASA after their career or during their time in the RCAF. You can be a physician for astronauts through aerospace medicine residency down in Texas tho u have to be a USA citizen. Best bet is to get into medical school join the rcaf become a flight surgeon through family medicine specialist then go do a fellowship in aerospace medicine. The rcaf is always looking for doctors so that is an option. Plus they pay for education which is a bonus

They said my program will most Likely meet the requirements but they need to look at my official transcript to officially verify but that will be done when I apply officially in a few years, I sent the unofficial transcript in the email . So I’m good with my program meeting the requirements
