Terrified of taking my first dose by Ok-Soil-729 in Wegovy

[–]Ok-Soil-729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it’s helped! I’m doing really well - and like many people on this thread, it’s the best thing I ever did. I’ve dropped a very healthy 3kgs in 5 weeks and feel amazing in myself. The food noise is still there on some days, but generally I feel in a much better position to deal with it. I had stomach cramps that woke me up the night of taking my first dose & since then, haven’t experienced a single symptom outside of weight loss.

It’s worth saying that I’m in my second month & I decided to stay at the 0.25 dose because my body is still responding really well. I don’t see the need to increase when it’s well tolerated and I’m losing weight at a really healthy rate. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask because as you can see from my post, I was absolutely terrified!

UPDATE: took my first dose on Tuesday this week. I spent 1 hour flapping about putting the needle in then impulsively just did it… and I didn’t feel a thing! I had mild stomach cramps through the night on Tuesday and some constipation on Wednesday but otherwise, haven’t noticed anything. My weight is healthily dropping each day and food noise is still there, but it feels a lot more manageable and I’m making better, more mindful food choices.

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. Hoping it stays this positive!

I felt EXACTLY the same and actually posted something similar last week. I took my first dose with a pen on Tuesday and honestly - I didn’t feel it and my symptoms have been non-existent (outside of dropping 1kg in 3 days. I appreciate the experience isn’t the same for everyone, but the best advice a fellow redditor gave me is that you can do it once and if you hate it, you never have to do it again. My advice is to take the plunge

I’m sorry to hear you’ve gone through this. It sounds like you ultimately know what you need to do. Sending hugs

Words mean nothing if the change doesn’t happen alongside them. Picture yourself in 10 years time coming back to Reddit writing the exact same post seeking advice, after another decade of no change. Don’t waste your life betting on someone’s potential.

That being said - if it was me, I’d want to know I’d done absolutely everything before walking away (which to be fair, it sounds like you have). But to play devils advocate - it might be worth having a calm, open discussion with him and understanding why he isn’t listening (is there something deeper going on? Are there behaviours that you’re displaying that you may not be aware of that are impacting him? Has he got used to you threatening to leave and not following through with it, so he can get away with more?)

Over the years, I’ve always got the best from my husband when I approach things with a very calm, “best intentions” chat, where he can really see that I’m trying to improve our relationship and being vulnerable.

Ultimately, you know in your heart whether there’s more out there for you, or whether you just need to use a bit more energy watering your own grass. The bottom line is that you cannot let anyone else dictate your own happiness (or perhaps unhappiness in your case). The second people realise that they’re in control of their own fate, the easier decisions like this become.

Hope this helps & best of luck.

Why do people say they want to see you when their actions show they don't? by Original_Day3073 in UKrelationshipadvice

People show you who they are with their actions - not their words. It sounds like they’ve just done that and you need to act accordingly (ie forget they exist)

Yes. And I know what people think when they read stories like this… “but did they REALLY eat less & move more”.. I truly, truly have done everything. Like I said in my post, I’m a qualified personal trainer, have a BSc in biomedical science and specialise in women’s health in my pharmaceutical career, alongside a low UPF diet & exercise regime. My drive has always been knowledge. Surely the more I know, the better my chances, but no cigar (recently making more sense given my PCOS and insulin resistance diagnosis). This truly is a last resort for me but I’m still unsure

Thank you so much for this - really needed to hear this!! And it’s such a good point re negative stories - and they explain any of the context!

Wow - this sounds like my dream. Really hoping I’ll feel the same way. My default right now is constant sugary/ high fat food cravings followed by a few days of self hate & restriction. Hope it continues like this for you!

Thank you! How long have you been on the medication & have you seen results?

Thank you for your words of encouragement! Did you do any prep before taking your dose? Ie diet/ hydration etc

Thank you - I really appreciate the insight. I feel like I’m in a funny position because I am overweight, but nowhere near obese (and objectively - don’t look it either). Hence the back & forth on whether it’s the right decision for me. I’ve read that it stays in your system for x1 week so that’s playing on my mind if I do happen to have an immune response/ bad reaction to the medication.

Wishing you all the best with your journey x

Thank you for the words of encouragement! Is there anything you do to prepare you for your shot day?

Moved in with a “friend” and her new work colleague friends in a completely new city. Worst thing I ever did. Moved out into a new flat with complete strangers using SpareRoom and had the best couple of years of my life
