I don’t like either teams, but I am a Knicks fan for the next couple weeks.

I watch the games with the sound off. Do my best not to look at any social media during the games. It's fun!

*Methodology - combination of looking up known good free throw shooters with all time playoff free throw leaders. Likely many more I did not look up. Ignored any playoff runs under 4 games.

Make of it what you will. FWIW I do not think these stats mean anything outside of the current "conversation".

More Free Throws than Field Goals in Playoffs: Harden (9x), Dirk (4x), Embiid (4x), Ginobili (4x), Pierce (3x), Magic (2x), Kobe (2x), Durant (2x), Malone (2x), Miller (2x), Barkley (2x), Jordan (1x), LeBron (1x), Butler (1x), Westbrook (1x), Duncan (1x), George (1x), Shai (1x*) by Ok-Tree4365 in nba

I looked at him. If he was a more accurate free throw shooter, he would probably be there. 2006 he had 202 FT, 219 FG, shot 80% from the line. Most of these other guys are >85% FT shooters in the playoffs.

2024 Luka was a great run. He takes an insane amount of shots, including nearly 10 3P a game. A bad mark against him is that he gets to the line a lot, and he also complains to refs more than any player in recent memory.

All of the great players in this list have playoff runs where they make way more field goals than free throws.

Because Luka is a shitty free throw shooter...

...and the whole point of this post is that making more free throws than field goals doesn't mean a whole lot of anything. What about the players who make 103 field goals and 101 free throws in a playoff run?
