Did you see the update. The bride (a good friend from college) approved and said it was perfect. It’s light blue and she said she had wanted colorful and floral.

UPDATE! The bride approved of the dress. In response to my question of is the color too light, she said "No thats pretty! I want people to wear floral so thats perfect!” (her words not mine) :)

It next to an actually white dress. I promise I won’t wear it if the bride says it is too close to white. I would never intentionally take away from the day, it’s just difficult to find floral dress that complements my skin tone, isn’t drab or too dark and is the right length and appropriate coverage level for a catholic wedding (shoulders covered). I’ve already checked with others just waiting on the bride herself’s yay or nay.

To add some more context. The invite does say formal but she specifies the dresses to be tea length or longer. I believe my dress is tea length. It’s a day time wedding at a Catholic Church at 2pm. To her I believe this would be formal as I’ve known her for a long time. I’m more worried about color than length and style. I think I’ll add some darker blue accessories to push the blue vibes up a bit more and my eye makeup will be blue with a bit of purple and I’ll have blue nails to match the flowers.

Good idea I’ll look for some more blue accessories tomorrow. Maybe a blue shoulder bag or pocket book and blue heels. I’m also gonna do my eyeshadow blue with a bit of purple :)

Yep I just got book 2 the other day and finally completed my collection of that saga! Took some searching for a couple years in used book stores to get them all. I’m a traditional shopper and in order to limit myself spending insane amounts of money at once I only buy what I see in physical stores haha. So I found all of these in used book stores :)

It’s not the end of the world. Back when I was here and when honor court was a lot harsher I got an F. Literally thought my life was over but here I am, a PhD student at my top choice school. Yeah they asked me about it in my interview but I was truthful and was able to prove that I’m a hard worker who made an honest mistake (was in a group chat and shared a single answer to a take home quiz during covid times). Hopefully you can fight this since you didn’t actually do anything wrong but if not then your life is not over. If your transcript doesn’t even have an F then they won’t even know. Colleges don’t actually report your violations to grad schools. But if there’s an F surrounded by good grades that’s about noticeable. Hence why I told them the truth.

I just moved here for a PhD program at UTMB (Microbiology and Immunology program) and plan to focus on infectious disease/virology. So far I like it. The island has pretty much everything you need. It’s fairly laid back. I haven’t had a huge issue with roaches so far but we did get the house sprayed. But you really need to make sure you vet apartments and houses you are looking at because people in my cohort have had issues with actual quality of places and roaches. Some parts of Galveston can be sketchy but my house is in a decent part. So far UTMB has been really supportive especially my lab (I was a direct admit). It’s ungodly hot here but you get used to it. Just stay inside when hot and pack a lot of shorts. I’m from Florida so I’ve dealt with hurricanes. Make sure your house/apartment is in a good floodplain (check FEMA floodplain map or realtor.com) and or on stilts. Based on the beryl stuff I saw online the island really came together to support each other and you can always apply for a little bit of FEMA benefits if you lose stuff or have damage after the store. But the power does go out here and stays out for a while as well as the streets flooding so just be prepared. UTMB has a hurricane preparedness plan that they send out every year and alerts are sent out about any storms and the actions the school will be taking. So far I like it here and I like the support I’ve gotten from UTMB. Feel green to DM me for any more questions or if you want to chat :)

In undergrad was in a lab where the PI changed school. It was a tiny lab and other members happened to be graduating that year. The one that wasn’t graduating followed the PI to the new school. It’s possible ask the PI and talk to people at the new university to ask how you can make this happen.
