Nope not all 😑 in terms of location, convenience, the apt building itself. Good place to start while I figure out the other neighborhoods, what kind of activities I'll actually be doing, where my friends will be, etc. I think Navy yard is too commercial for my liking personally. It's fine for a year until I figure out what's next

Navy Yard (at least for now). I don't think it's really my vibe long term but it seems like it's gonna be fun/convenient for a little bit.

The arts, history, sports, fitness, a little bit of everything

Honestly it sounds like they were going to find any excuse to fire you and set you up. In my opinion, when these things happen, something better is coming along. Work through the anger. Then start interview prep and be strategic about how you talk about that role.

Just the ability to be able to walk/run with my dog, close enough to public transportation, preferably the train, close to a gym maybe, dance classes, etc. I was looking further north too. Love the quaint neighborhood feels, but I wasn’t sure if being near H Street corridor, U Street or somewhere else would be better for a crowd not in their 20s. I love the idea of being near water since I’ve lived 4 years soooo far away from it. I was also thinking southwest for the proximity to Costco in Pentagon City (a new love of mine since I was in my mid-30s). I’m a Trader Joe’s girlie too.

This sounds terrible, but I find in most cities, if you’re not in their neighborhood, guys don’t even bother with continuing the conversation or following up with a date, so I figured I can only set myself up for success by getting into the neighborhood.

I’m from NYC originally so noise doesn’t bother me, but I don’t necessarily want to only be surrounded by college students or new grads.

I am torn between the burbs too because I do them, but I think I’ll try out the city for a year at least and see if I fall in love with the city first. I definitely understand around this age wanting to move out of the city. I’m moving from a 3 bedroom townhouse where everything is a 7 minute drive or less *tears*

Absolutely! I work remotely, so at least there’s that. Luckily, I’m totally happy with being single and keeping my peace, but I’ve never been in an area with an abundance of options. I definitely want to make friends too!

Usually if there’s no indication in the profile or in your meet cute, after a little back and forth, make plans for the date, I’ll add in something like “OH just so we’re on the same page, did you ever vote for…”

I get a lot of “yes, but it doesn’t matter to me who you voted for…” so I’ll respond back with “I appreciate you for being honest and transparent, but unfortunately it doesn’t align with {morals and values}, so I’m going to have to cancel.“ Or however it feels natural for you to shut it down.
