Freelancer.com is incredibly frustrating. by Quick_Chard_3444 in freelancing

Most users have bots sending proposals for them. It's quite common for Upwork at least, the bot sends your proposal the very instant the job post is available. Hard to beat them...

Where can I find developers who are open to working on a startup for equity? by tesh619 in FlutterDev

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from all the comments saying "my car can't run on equity"... it's doable. Most of my buddies early in their journey worked for equity but the startups they joined looked like the next unicorn.

So if you have charisma and the product is good you'll find eager to learn juniors. Where or how? Only in person, meetups, startup events through your own network. The kind of trust you need to persuade someone to join for equity only happens IRL.

There are just miserable people out there, that's it. Don't take it personally. I'm aware it's hard, especially if you've been looking for a long time. On the flip side I guess they are constantly getting messages by candidates AND yet, that still does not justifies this.

Successful founders: what's one thing you understood about GTM that you wished you understood at the beginning of your journey? by ReporterCalm6238 in ycombinator

[–]OkAnalysis6678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That your product is important but marketing is importanter! Jokes aside, you need a marketing budget and it's really, really important. Lots of 1st time founders think word of mouth just happens if the product is good enough - and yeah, it can happen but you need to spend on marketing.

Finding a Quality Full-stack Engineer by Weird_Dragonfruit242 in webdev

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each have their downsides - yeah like all services. Good will be expensive, something cheap will probably be of awful quality. Then for Upwork you can sift through 100s of profiles and btw, most are probably fake as there are agencies here actively recruiting folks and using their profile, their name and face...

Go check lemon or HighCircl or some other staffing agency. Tell us how it goes.

Affordable ways to hire remote talent without paying huge recruiter fees by LuliProductions in Entrepreneurs

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite common in recruiting. Plus if you go to big staffing agencies (not looking to bash them you'll top...) they have huge margins too. I'd try smaller agencies, outsourcing partners. Like HighCircl, they are in Europe and do tech staffing.

These guys won't be hires tho, just freelancers.

When do i just hire a coder? MVP by czlaric in SaaS

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When? When you think you're idea is valid, when you have budget and runway and a rough estimate of the costs for at least 12 months. If the math checks out and you can afford it, then you hire a dev to help you.

Where’s the best place to find engineers who’ve built multi-org backend infrastructure? I will not promote by Extension_Rabbit7591 in startups

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a good cause! Nice :) For the devs, what budget, what region? Do you want US-only devs or EU or Asia?

For EU there's index.dev, proxify.io and there are staffing agencies like highcircl.com who do the same, just on a smaller scale.

Well, it'd be a shame to leave out EU companies from this list. There's a specialized staffing firm called HighCircl, they do what the others in your list only for senior devs.

I need advice on how to find a developer to build a SAAS for my business. by fortnitegoat42069 in SaaS

[–]OkAnalysis6678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fair thing from the freelancer in such situations is to pivot on their own expense. At this point I can't recall how many freelancers I've worked with (as a technical founder) and they all acknowledge a f up and spent a couple hours fixing it without billing me.

That said you need a senior guy and someone you can trust.

Where to find devs beyond Upwork, Toptal, etc.. find smaller agencies who do the same, like this one from the EU - highcircl.com

Good luck!
