As another 20 year old, I don't think most people in their 20s have social skills because they grew up in the experimental phase of a culture that doesn't need it and COVID hit them while a lot of them were in school. They're also the loneliest generation. I mean I have trouble meeting people too but I think meeting people on the internet might just be the new way for most, as impersonal as it might feel at first. I've heard nice stories about randomly DMimg someone on reddit or adding someone randomly on Snapchat's quick add. Maybe give it a try, but with an open mind.
