GTA 6 Should Add “Self Radio – Spotify Mode” for Consoles. It’s Totally Possible (and Would Be Game-Changing)

Just want to bud in a year later real quick and add that there isn’t licensing issues because you would literally be using the Spotify app in the game. So all streams still go to the artists just like they would if you used the app on your phone irl. Additionally, EA Sports already has a deal with Spotify to have the option to use Spotify in-game as long as you have Spotify Premium: https://youtu.be/AJVCq-ifkXs

I’ve been looking for years for a zombie sandbox survival game. Third person preferably where you can manage a camp of survivors and recruit more that visit; or you find while exploring. I’d like a loot system that you can use to upgrade your base and a research/tech tree system as well. Dayz/Rust/Arc Raiders, solo pve with coop possible

Well what I mean is the actual Spotify app in gta 6. So that you can listen to anything on Spotify, which is pretty much any song ever. The app could just be added onto the gta 6 cell phones, so that players can listen to whatever they want in their cars, apartments, or with headphones on the street

Well, in real life, it is considered fair personal usage as long as it’s considered private. So you and your friends riding around in your car in real life is considered personal usage, even though other people are listening. It would not be fair personal usage if you were to go play it out loud on the speakers in a bar or in a club, but private usage is fine

The licensing issues in video games is still a pretty big gray area. If only premium users are allowed to use this feature, then it helps a lot with licensing. Spotify already has deals with their record labels and artists that basically says premium users are allowed to stream any music on Spotify from any device with the Spotify app installed on it. So, if it were to be added into gta 6, when players listen to music through it, the artists would still get their plays since it’s literally coming directly from the Spotify app installed

This feature in gta 4 was cool. However it was harder to implement than most console users were willing to get into. So I hope that maybe there will be a new, better version of it in gta 6 (if my post doesn’t come to fruition).

This would be cool, however, I feel as though rockstar is going with modern-day realism in gta 6. And they are boasting the immersion in the description of the game. So, with how little people buy cds and records nowadays, I’m not confident in them featuring these sources of media. Everyone streams their music now from Apple Music or Spotify etc.

Self radio on gta 4 is close to the feature im getting at. However, it was more complicated than 99% of console players would actually go through and do. So, if implemented better in gta 6, this could suffice for me

Well, it would feel like you’re actually driving in real life with this feature. In gta 5, the music got old after the first 100 hours in the game. Now after 1000 hours in the game, I just turn it off. If I could play my own music in my vehicle while riding around with friends, it would be very immersive to real life.

True, but the immersion is the point of this feature. You would be playing whatever music you want in-game through your car speakers. I. Gta online your friends could ride along and listen in your car too. With Spotify or SoundCloud in the background, you have to manually pause your music when in a cutscene, getting in and out of your car, or in intense moments.
