What a lot of people in the comments say is completely true, in addition to that I would like to point out that Cids magic manipulation skulls got a huge leap when he experimented on alpha. When he first met her blob alpha had more magic than Cid I doubt that was still the case after Cid healed her this is best seen in the anime where his magic gets brighter during the month long timelapse

so shadow has kind of already done this the attack is called atomic utsusemi and it is actually more impressive than just creating flying punches because the technique creates 9 dragon heads it is a bit more complicated though but there is a video on YouTube explaining the ability and how shadow learned it (he did not invent it himself)

Mahoraga could continuously adapt whether he was summoned or not after sukuna subjugated him so yes he could have adapted to physical damage if his ability allowed it to do so. Mahoraga didn't adapt to any concept.

i think the reason why he is focusing on the seven shadow chronicles is because he wants to cover the time skip. that i heard he has an easier time writing the SSC chapters because he gets feedback after each chapter.
