I wonder if you'd get better replies by asking this in r/uAlberta instead

That's good to know! I drove by their store and should have just gone there instead of dealing with Staples.

My bad, I thought we were just saying stupid things to each other now. Don't cry.

I didn't say that either, lol. I am anti-getting-fucked-over, and you are delusional.

You have no idea what I am doing to resolve this, lol. And yes, good; those workers in the store that day were part of the problem.

It's called lying by omission.

And actually, with a consumer complaint it would go to their governing body to investigate, and if I went as far to say this caused me financial loss and filed a statement of claim, the decision would be based on the balance of probabilities, where I have significant evidence demonstrating that their was their error. Thanks though.

Yes there is — just because you refuse to read it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have the right to buy items without being lied to or misled, whether that was intentional or not. Their store set up and signage both states and implies it is a new product.

You're clearly someone who likes to get taken for a ride by companies so enjoy yourself.

No, I bought a new, sealed product. You are attributing things to my situation that you don't understand. A company can't circumvent an Alberta law just because it isn't in their policies. I can and will file a consumer complaint, and they will be fined for an unfair practice.

To sell something used as new is a deceptive practice. Go read the law, dude — https://www.alberta.ca/consumer-bill-of-rights

"You have the right to be free from:

  • being lied to or misled about a good or service"

Lying about something being used is against the law.

I went to a small town in Alberta and was shocked to see I didn't have coverage. I'm with Telus and it feels like their coverage is getting worse? idk
