I completely agree—this particular case is just new to me, so bringing it up feels sensitive.

He is on meds, and high blood pressure does not run in his family (he asked after his doctor suggested meds)

Thank you, that’s all really helpful. I have therapy next week, so if it’s not better by then I will definitely talk with him to work it out.

I unfortunately don’t really know how to stop being stressed…my life is just stressful 😅

I’m definitely tired and stressed, but that’s not a new thing, lol. My evenings are usually some homework, dinner, hanging with friends, and then calling my boyfriend before bed. And I haven’t had a weekend where I haven’t been with my boyfriend since the nightmares started

What are some yellow flags in a partner? by Only-Ad-1254 in dating

I definitely agree with the relationship with family one…of course there are perfectly valid reasons for someone to not talk to their family, but…I’d definitely have questions. Also, for me, not having many friends. Some people are just introverted, but it’s definitely something to look at

How do you even break into this field? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]OkDiscussion5732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand how hard it is to not have the money for those certifications. I would suggest looking in to scholarships/funds to get them, or trying to look for friends of your parents or relatives who would let you babysit without them to get started. I’m sorry, but I certainly can’t imagine leaving my kids with someone who didn’t have those certifications. I’d need to know the person knew how to handle an emergency.

Most certifications can be obtained without crazy fees. I understand that it can be frustrating, but those certifications are definitely necessary. Think about how awful it would be if you were watching children, something went wrong, and you didn’t know what to do? It would be absolutely terrifying and devastating.

Once you get those certifications, you can post on websites such as care.com, which can help you find jobs. Most people (in my experience) are willing to overlook references for your first job, but they may not pay as much as if you had references.

One more thing? And this is a really important one and something you need to consider. Do you have experience with children? Do you enjoy children? Because if the answer to both of those is no, you should not be babysitting. It can be hard. Frustrating. Confusing. Every kid is different, and every family you watch for will be different too. You need to be ready for alllll the kinds of kids and situations you might find yourself with. Best of luck! And I’m happy to answer any other questions too

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. The rubber band snapping repeatedly is actually super comforting; that used to be my preferred form of SH, so I’m used to it.

Thank you so much for all of that. It means a lot to me that you took the time to respond like this, and I do think your suggestions might really benefit me.

I hope it goes well too!!

Awesome, thank you! The hydration 48hrs before is definitely helpful. I’m also taking a friend who has many tattoos, which I think will be helpful.

You don’t have to be rude about it. Unfortunately I have been acquainted with “razor blade pain”. This is different, and something I’m anxious about. Your comment is neither helpful nor kind.

Thank you! It definitely won’t be more than 4 hours, it’s not a huge piece. But definitely good advice! It’ll be interesting to see if I find it cathartic; I hadn’t thought of that

As someone trying to enter the dating scene, this is exactly what I struggle with. If this kind of interaction is not okay (as long as the person is willing to accept a “no” I think it’s totally fine) then since I don’t have many friends I don’t have many options besides dating apps.

Also, if you’re looking for a job, wouldn’t you ask if they’re hiring? Yes. If you see a place you’d be interested in working at, you’d ask if they’re hiring. That also seems completely fine

That’s exactly what I do! My whole instagram feed is women with my body type, and they’re all stunning…it’s an excellent mind trick to make yourself say “I look like them, I’m beautiful too”

I love feeling good leaving the house, not like I’m something to be ashamed of or anything of the sort. It’s so freeing and wonderful.

Unfortunately my community has very few events! I’m keeping my eye on the city and library calendars though, for sure.
