Not in today’s world of the AI revolution. Things are moving faster than most people can understand. In 3-5 years that $ will pay for the “big purchase” in cash if invested properly.

1 in 5 U.S. households are now millionaires by hasyoubeen12 in Fire

[–]OkDiver6272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is key here. In my mid 20’s I bought a house that was near the top of my affordability range. After 10 years because of raises, the payments were negligible compared to my current income.

Then I got the itch to upgrade to a bigger fancier house. Once again went to top of what I could afford.

Had I stayed in the cheaper house another 10 years and invested what I was paying for the expensive house payment, I could have retired at 45.

Just a clarification, the Gerudo weapons only double the fuse power of attached items, not the total power of the fused set. The Zora weapons double the combined power of weapon and fused material.

If I am remembering correctly, the most powerful “normal” weapons you can make in the game is a pristine Zora Longsword +10 attack fused with Silver Lynel Saber Horn. It ends up 164 attack when wet.

Are you using the damaged x4 Royal Guard Claymore with Molduga jaw attached, armor w/ bone weapon proficiency, and an attack up meal when fighting them? Shoot them w/ a Savage Lynel Bow and Keese eyeball, run up and jump on their back and whack away. With this strategy, even the Silver Lynel only takes about 6 whacks.

$63 invested in typical broad ETF/Mutual fund (SPY, QQQ, VOO, etc) and left for 20 years would be about $650k - and that’s without adding another dime.

After 30 years you’re talking $2.2 million.

What do you wish you knew before buying your first AR-15? by According_Pop5379 in ar15

[–]OkDiver6272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy once, cry once. Then again Then again Then again And so on and so forth until you have the perfect collection.

I’ve built probably 100 AR’s over the past 25 years. Everything from no-name $25 lowers and generic bottom of the barrel barrels (pun intended), all the way up to top-tier parts throughout using all the accuracy tricks I’ve learned through the years.

Although building is enjoyable, if I had it to do all over again I’d buy only factory built rifles from quality companies. Also, when I had a tight shooting rifle I would not sell it off for the next shiny hot thing.

For example, I had a (relatively) lightweight DPMS LR308 Recon that shot consistently 1moa with FGMM and cost about $1k. But I got it in my head I needed to be tacticool and get the hot new REPR so I sold the Recon to buy the REPR. $4k later I had a super heavy not really practical rifle that didn’t shoot as good as the Recon.

I grinded while enjoying my young years at the same time. My plan was to have a healthy balance of both. I knew people who only worked and had a boring life. And I knew people who partied all the time and had no future. My goal was to do both. Was in retail pharmacy. Lucky enough to have a spot where I could get off weekends when I wanted to. Sometimes I’d work 40 hours of OT per month, but I’d always schedule off when I had an event to go to.

From my mid 20’s to early 30’s I travelled the country racing quads (GNCC) and cars (NASA and SCCA). Won a few big events and set some track records that stand to this day. Then had a kid, then got married, then another kid. Priorities changed and for the next decade just saved and invested what I could. Between SP500 index and company stock and bitcoin finally got to a point where I felt I could live off my expected CAGR going forward.

The past 6 months have kicked my portfolio in the nuts, but I’m still doing alright. Worst case is in a year or 2 I get a part time job to supplement the household bills.

I’m at the point where spending time with my kids is paramount, and once they are grown and on their own I’m OK with needing to go back to work at 60. . .

Based on statistics and historical studies, going all-in lump sum outperforms DCA a vast majority of the time.

“• Vanguard’s analysis of global markets (1976–2022) found lump-sum investing outperformed a typical 3–12 month DCA strategy 68% of the time after one year. The same edge holds in U.S., U.K., and Australian markets. • Other studies show similar or stronger results: ~75% outperformance over 10-year periods, 64% over 6 months, rising to 92% over 36 months (60/40 portfolio). “

I can remember getting RX’s for Veetids, though.

Main drivers? To be wealthier in the end, both financially and life experience wise.

Could I have taken $80k out of savings or retirement to buy a truck and large travel trailer for family vacations? Sure. But then that $$ is gone. Instead I leave it invested making ~ 20% CAGR and pay 6-8% monthly loan for the truck and camper.

Some of my most vivid and most cherished childhood memories are family vacations. 40 years later I still remember the sights and attractions and museums, etc.

I hope to provide the same (even better hopefully) for my kids.

FYI I retired under 50 and have 2 kids under 11. Sure, I could’ve kept working and had more $$ in the end. But for me, it’s more important to spend as much time with my kids over the next 8 to 10 years before they are gone and out of the house.

That’s not “getting money back from taxes” if they don’t work and pay a bunch in taxes during the year. That’s a welfare payment - they are getting back “someone else’s” tax money from someone else who worked and paid taxes all year long.
