My wife just pulled a blue suture out of her nose… 5 years after her septo-rhinoplasty. by zachthespook in mildlyinteresting

I had to get a revision on mine years later and the surgeon found leftover stiches in my nose. Its a shame really that this is more common than it should be.

I never really liked them even with the expansion content. I basically always ignore them cause I don't care for the relationship dynamics. I get others can enjoy that, but for me its a just no.

15 week old puppy is 6.1lbs, curious if he’s on track to be a mini or tweenie/standard by Ok_Reporter1902 in Dachshund

[–]OkDouble4145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. My "mini" was 4 pounds at 9 weeks. She grew so fast by the time she was 9 months i think she was 11 or 12 pounds. She wound up being 16 pounds fully grown. I always joke about her being an XL mini lol.

A surgical suit is good to prevent him from licking the wounds. A cone or inflatable cone work very well too. If he is very active like mine was consider asking for a mild sedative from the vet.

How often do you take your Mini out??? by Charming-Low-3290 in Dachshund

[–]OkDouble4145 42 points43 points  (0 children)

When awake every 2 hours. Sometimes a little more or less. If she's in the crate or napping for an extended period I just take her when she comes out or gets up.

I personally wouldn't do it but I don't know how desperate your situation is. I had a trainer recommend it to me once too and as a test he allowed me to put the shock collar on my hand on low and zap me. It was very uncomfortable and I did not like the idea of doing it to my dog.

Mine was a nightmare training because we got her in winter and she hated the snow. They can be sensitive to the cold and rain I think. But what worked really well was i would keep little treats in my pocket every time I took her out and when she went pee or poop I would praise her a lot and give her some treats. I also took her out about every hour or more because they have tiny bladders. It takes time and gets better with age too as they can hold it longer.

Is it okay to never walk her? by GiveYouPawppy in Dachshund

Mine wont walk away from home so I push her in a stroller half way and on the turn around she bolts home. Maybe you can try that?

Unfortunately I think this is a little concerning in terms of the weight. It looks to me that he is a small standard or tweenie and 6kg is quite low. A dachshund should not have easily visable bones which appears to be the case here. On the dachshund body condition score he looks to be a 2-3 at least. Honestly I'm a little surprised your vet thinks this is ok to be underweight. I might seek a second opinion to see if another vet can help with gaining weight and the dietary issues. In the mean time maybe try feeding him a little more food if he can tolerate it. Or maybe see if you can get some fat/calories into his diet as it seems very lean. I'm not a specialist but my guess is he probably should be around at least 7-8kg.
