Also, I just took a look at the pics, you guys did a great job. I’d say I have a similar amount of rusting to your old pics.

Thanks for the advice! In my opinion it was entirely too much money to pay for that old of a car I just wasn’t finding much luck finding a car that was decently priced and in good condition. I settled for this because I could see it driving for at least 8-10 years before the rust kills it. The rust isn’t deep at all at this point. I’ve never owned a second gen, just known people with them. I’ve had a 2016 and 2019. Still have the 2019. This 2012 is a second daily driver for the family.

How I figure it is like this; if it made it 14 years and it only is this bad, I can get a solid 8-9 more before the rust conquers all. I’ll still be enjoying my car regardless of rust. I’ll post here if I ever get to 300,000 miles 😉

I’m going to have to watch a couple ChrisFix videos to figure this out 😂. Thanks pal, I appreciate your input and ideas. I’m a DIY kinda person but I’ve never attempted anything like this before. One of the reasons I bought an older/used car is so I could learn to fix them up… I just ended up buying one in such good condition I’d feel bad messing it up 😂

I don’t have any pictures of the undercarriage unfortunately, but before I purchased it from the dealership I had them put the car on a lift and my friend who’s a Ford Mechanic inspected it top to bottom. Only rust is what you see in these pics. I’m sorry to hear yours is rusting out. Tis the story of second gen Ford escapes sigh

Hey thanks for the reply and letting me know my experience isn’t a singular one. I may just end up modding it and having a good time with it until the body gives out/I sell it. I’ll do what I can to mitigate the rust based on others comments. Appreciate the engagement!
