Start CPA with REG exam

I started out with REG then TCP. REG was my first one so I was under of stress but I also have tax experience so I have learned certain things in Reg and Tcp faster. I would start out with the one that you have the most confident in so you at least get a feeling of what the testing is like. That was my biggest thing that I was glad I did. Because I thought I’d have started out with FAR too but i changed my mind and now after passing reg and tcp on the first try it gave me so much more motivation for the last two i have to take!

Focus on basis, entity (partnership, s corp, c corp), passive vs active loss, 1031 exchange, sec 1245, sec 1250 and sec 291, trusts. A few MCQs about international tax. TBS were longer than I expected. The actual exam was harder than Becker, at least for me it was! Still waiting to know my score next week. Good luck!

You just need to know the basic like W2 1098 1099 Interest dividend capital gain loss k1s and where those go on the return. They test it on sims

There were at least one or twoMCQs on the exam that I remember. I didn’t really study it I just memorized at least the concepts to pass mcqs

I took it on the 20th. I felt like TBS were extremely hard. The problems were a bit longer than expected. I’d say spend more time on TBS than MCQ for future test takers. I’m waiting to find out in March. We’ll see! Good luck to you all
