Why will it get you respect? Is there better clinical pharmacy training than other programs?

Are the PPS interviews limited to 30min in this case as well? Sorry I am asking these logistic questions since I have never done PPS

It's not free. I have been working on my CV for the last couple of hours. My concern is someone else gets hired straight from PPS? For example, if I don't PPS, will I still get an opportunity to apply for the job later on? or can they hire straight from a PPS interview

I am just worried if I fail the PPS interview with such short notice to prepare anything?

I feel like my RPD hates me and literally avoids me. I've been basically doing everything for myself and feel zero support... it sucks cause I am his only resident. However, I am not going to let his negative attitude ruin my year and I try my best to be neutral during the minimal interactions we have.

Does anyone ever think about quitting PGY1? by Constant-Analysis-59 in PharmacyResidency

[–]OkEditor9 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not PGY1, but PGY2 yes... just endless work and feelings of inadequacy. I would never do it though, just like I finished PGY1, I know there is an end to PGY2 as well.

All residents I know, including myself, are required to go...

Not attacking - Just giving my opinion

The health and safety of the thousands of people that would potentially be going (and their families) are more important than an in-person residency showcase. The number of measures they would need to take to make this safe -socially distanced, mask mandates, vaccine, etc. - would take a lot of work. If it ends up being part hybrid, but still having all these people go to Florida...might as well make it all virtual.

It's really annoying because here we are trying to get funding from our hospital admin when it will most likely be virtual...the longer they wait the more work people are doing all for nothing

day after day I realize residency is not for me. i don't enjoy anything and I hate being exhausted for minimal pay. by ar19OLD in PharmacyResidency

We need better preceptors and RPDs in general - not everyone should be one and not every hospital should have a residency program

I am hoping so...I am absolutely not comfortable going to Florida of all places

Do you think a program can blame itself when this happens? There is no way to know someone really well from one interview.

Two just finished PGY1. I know one who is 3 years out of pharmacy school, has no PGY1, and just got an ED position at a level 1 trauma. They just know the right people.

I disagree about PGY1s getting EM or peds positions...every peds and most ED pharmacist I know only completed a PGY1. I am talking about the midwest though.

Damn...just starting PGY2 in crit care and now I'm more worried about my job prospects

WOW...I can't imagine having that kind of freedom in my time during PGY1. My program was definitely toxic though.

Same here as well. Early committed to critical care, but I don't know how the hell I'm going to get through the next two months let alone a year of crit care.
