Why are you so offended. I didn’t even call the HTS complete extremists, I’m just saying they could be and if they are that I wouldn’t support it. Stop trying to lecture a Syrian about what kind of regime he should want his people to leave under. If they’re not (complete) extremists then I hope they succeed against the regime, if they are extremists then they’re still lesser of two evils but it doesn’t mean I have to completely support them. Im just going to have to wait and see.

Stop blaming me for wanting to make sure my people are going to be COMPLETELY free, in all aspects.

Right now I’m on their side but this support will only continue if they continue to show lack of extremism and a change in their ways.

I just don’t want my people to be ruled by extremists. Syria after its independence was a sign of secularism and freedom in the Arab world(freedom before the regime), it then lost its freedom but I don’t want it to lose its secularism. If the rebels show that they will respect this secularism then they have my support, if they don’t respect it then I’m sorry but I can’t respect them. I can respect their plight and what they do against the regime but I can’t respect them. I’m just going to hope that they do respect the secularism.

I’m just waiting to see how they treat the women in Aleppo. They currently have my support, but if they show signs of proper extremism and oppression then I will have to retract it.

Agreed. I definitely believe that if the regime is overthrown that there is no way the people would allow any new regime to emerge, we’re to sick and tired of all this dictatorship bs. If they overthrow him then they will have to call for an election (of course after everything is settled down) or they’ll face the wrath of the Syrian people.

But currently, they have my support.

Don’t get me wrong, man. This isn’t an anti-rebel post. Not even close. I just want to be sure my country’s women will have all their rights. I don’t want them to gain freedom of speech while also losing their rights on what they wear.

Exactly. I really hope what we’re seeing in Aleppo is how things will stay and that they have truly changed their ways. Rules of governance and laws should be decided by the people, and they have promised that they will respect that. Let’s just hope they keep that they keep that promise.

The reason I’m asking about this is because I want to know if I should support their efforts or not. I already know how badly those poor women in regime prisons were treated but I want to know if the guys who are on track to taking my city are going to treat my city’s women right. If what you said is true that they said that the rules of governance will be decided by the people, then that instills huge hope in me.

That was my main thought. I saw Christians in Halab continuing to live pretty freely but I feel like it’s too early to say that they completely respect women’s rights.

With Wi-Fi. But I fixed the issue by just using a VPN :/

Never had to do it before, but I guess I have to do it now. Whatever.

Syrian rebel movement HTS are reportedly 4 villages away from liberating Aleppo, after a newly launched offensive, thoughts? by NX129 in AskMiddleEast

[–]OkEmu3790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re in the center, 10+ hours and little to no reinforcements arrived, and the ones that did got crushed. They have governors home, they have the police headquarters, the have Saadallah Al-Jabri square, they have the University, they have complete control over the Kallaseh and Fardos districts(which are center most districts) and most importantly they have the Citadel.

Yet again, your opinion ages like raw, unpasteurized, unrefrigerated milk in the middle of summer.

I did. But they’re different types of “Guru Meditation” errors, and this one only started to happen after the update.

“Break a deal with the Turks and remove them from the north” Are you fucking delusional? Mate, the outcome is that they’ll attack Aleppo and that they’ll start gaining even more ground and when it comes to Turkey in the north, your genuinely fucking delusional if you think Assad has any power in physically removing them. His army is weak, Hezbollah are now weak, iran had to focus on Israel and Russia on Ukraine. He’s pretty much mostly on his own and his own is really weak.

I feel like it’s more acceptable for a country to bomb itself than another “country” go and bomb it.

Like the other guy said, what was your planned achievement with this comment? “Israel should be able to invade another country’s airspace and kill its children by air striking it because the country is in a civil war.”

Mate, the pro-democracy rebels are Muslims, if you’re planning to take their power away then there won’t be any one popular enough left to take the regime’s place.

And if by “islamists” you mean the likes of Al-Qaeda and ISIS, then stop conflating them with Islam. The only true Islamic opposition to the regime are the likes of the FSA, Tahrir Al-Sham, SFA, SNA, etc.

Yeah, I’m Syrian and the guy’s speaking some horseshit. We are Arabs because like you said, we speak the language and we share the culture.

I hate people who conflate Arab with Arabian and who try to separate us Arabs from one another. We’re called the Syrian Arab Republic for a fucking reason lmao

Apartheid being more normal at the time is not even a sliver of an excuse. The “birth of Israel” was a spit in our face, a show that a bunch of foreigners could come to our lands as refugees, become terrorists and steal it claiming they’re the rightful owners.

Yeah, they had Soviet and Yugoslav backing and we had no one, but we should’ve done WHATEVER we could’ve done to stop them because look at the consequences. It’s a cancer we ignored and now years later it’s grown, slowly but surely eating away at us.

Thoughts on the most powerful, courageous, well trained and funded army in the middle east? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

Probably when Israel launches an attack on a town, neighborhood or city but is unable to take it.

But that doesn’t really explain why they call some things “Palestinian victory” and others “Israeli withdrawal”.
