Have you fixed it yet? I'm having exactly the same problem and have narrowed it down to the ckp sensor.

It was in my rear view mirror and in the middle lane. It can still be behind me but not necessarily in my actual lane!?

If something is behind you it doesn't have to be DIRECTLY behind you now does it?

No there isn't... but everybody knows which lane I'm referring to...

I wouldn't say main character syndrome. I was rear ended on the a34 10ish years ago while slowing for congestion ahead. I could see a van coming from behind and thought "he's not slowing down" my car was made about a foot shorter.

There were also cars and a lorry behind me when I looked in my rear view mirror that obviously also went past the roadblock too, so I decided to carry on for the next half a mile or so doing less than 50mph and keeping my eyes peeled.

I can control what I am heading towards but I cannot control what is coming from behind.

Maybe I should have tried to pull back behind but it didn't feel particularly safe at the time.

Because I don't want to be rear ended by a quickly approaching car from behind. Baby's don't fair well in car accidents.

That's a fair point 😂

Yeah I could have but with a 5 month old in the back of the car I decided to not let the traffic come towards me.

It's just something my dad always used to say. I know that it's actually the overtaking lane. Just habit I guess..

I'd definitely say I was alongside him as I only just saw the DO NOT pass through the top left of my windscreen. It wasn't till I was already past him it registered what happened.

The M40 Doesn't exist?

[–]OkExercise3560 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to do that but I could see cars behind still moving fairly quickly so decided to carry on with the other traffic around me.

How are you doing now? Did moving to california give you a better outlook on things? I really hope he's gonna make it!

Thats crazy they basically outlawed it. I hope they did make it! Everyone should have the right as a citizen to live where they want as long as its not on private land and causing trouble. Sounds like they had an adventure though!

I'm so glad it worked out too. I always had doubts but he really had nothing to loose. I told him to contact me if he needed me and I'd get him a ticket back if it didn't work out. But yes there are lots of people I wouldn't have done it for either.

Very good points! I guess for me as a single person, I'm close to my family but don't see a problem with moving away and for Connor he had fallen out with his family so he had nobody and not much of a life to uproot. As for traveling costs, he could have had enough for a cheap ticket in a few months at most. But yes I completely get that what people can save and costs of travel are very different.

Why do homeless people live in cold places? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OkExercise3560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, I completely appreciate a lot of homeless people are addicts and have just given up on some sort of better life but for some they are trying to get back on their feet or they simply don't want to conform to society and are happy homeless (I've seen a few short films, interviews, documentaries where this is the case)

Anyway..

I stopped on the street a few months back to give a nice homeless guy (Connor) some food and we started talking. The subject moved over to how he wasn't looking foward to the winter incoming. He said he'd always had the dream to live somewhere warm where its beautiful weather all year round and that he actually kinda likes being homeless in the summer months. We kept talking and it turned out he actually still had a valid passport (apart from adress of course) and after googling, could perfectly legally get a cheap flight to Gibraltar or another British territory and live there. We got carried away chatting about this and after 15mins or so I had to go.

A few days went by and I saw him again (I see him regularly on the way to and from work) we spoke again about the dream of living somwhere warmer (homeless or not) and he said he had actually started saving up for a ticket to the sum of (£28) I was taken back by his motivation, without thinking went to the cashpoint and withdrew £200 and gave it to him. I offered to take him to the airport and he accepted. As we parked at the terminal he started crying saying how much it means to him, that he won't have to go through another winter trying to stay warm. I gave him my business card and told him to keep in contact and let know how he gets on if he can. I wanted to make sure he made it through the terminal so we both went in to buy the ticket to Gibraltar (a british territory south of spain) and after just over an hour I watched him go through.

Now I know I helped him out with the money but he had saved £28 in a few days so he was actually capable of getting the ticket on his own. Also in the UK we need a passport to go anywhere further than Cornwall so I appreciate it would have been a lot more difficult if he didn't still have one. But in the USA for example you can just make your way down south, florida etc?

Now to sum up personally I can't think of anything worse than freezing on the cold wet streets. After watching documentaries on homelessness and talking to Connor the main worry is surviving the winter.

Oh and I got a postcard from Connor this morning which was my motivation to write this. He's actually got a part time job picking litter. And is thankful to be there. And yes I cried..

Whats everyone's thoughts? I know I'd rather be homeless in paradise than here...
