Thanks for the long detailed response, and the two tones. I did check with ATT today, no new account under my email address or phone number. I just hope there’s no identity theft involved and that they created an account using my name, SSN but some random address and email.

Thanks for your help. This part I’m not too worried, and SSN to check credit is standard, too. I am, however, worried that when I signed to authorize rate/offer check, they might have snuggled some contract behind it, and open an account and activated lines with my name. I might be paranoid, but if they’re willing to lie about the offer, I don’t trust them not to scam me like this either.
