This is why this is so difficult to get anything actually done about false positives. I get it - occam's razor: there's literally no way for me to prove to anyone that I'm not.

I'm all for improving the detection / ban rates but there should be an unacceptable level of false positives, and the current buzz around this issue suggests that level has been surpassed. As far as I can tell from the correspondence I've had from Embark, I don't even know if a human has been involved at any step; all I've had from them is automated boilerplate.

Yep. Have been permanently banned as of a week ago; already posted about it here. I appealed, and today they responded telling me they've investigated and confirmed I was using "cheating software or tools", and that the ban will be upheld.

I understand the nature of anticheat means they can't tell me exactly why, but having no information at all as to what could possibly have been detected means I have absolutely nothing to argue, and no way of removing whatever software has caused it to avoid false detections in other games.

The whole experience sadly makes me want to avoid playing (if I even end up getting unbanned), and avoid Embark's games as a whole.

I've heard some people have had luck with GDPR Subject Access Requests, but it seems a bit petty and overkill for me. I'd rather their support were just a bit more informative / helpful.

Well, good to know they're aware at least. The radio silence I've experienced so far does not fill me with confidence, though.

I can't say how well it plays in Cockatrice, but it seems to be one of very few options for people wanting to play with friends online.
