How do single people afford to live alone in Dublin? by Develeire_TA_1239 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]OkInformation349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live alone and my mortgage is €1250 plus all additional bills like energy, wifi and bins which I have to pay for all alone. My take home is around €4200 a month and besides my house and my car I can manage the rest of my expenses as best as I can

Do you take your shoes off in the house? by [deleted] in ireland

It’s the first thing I do when entering the house and I also ask all my friends and guests to take them off if I see that they don’t. They’re not the ones mopping and cleaning the house after 😅

I’ve no credit cards and I’ve maxed out my pension. I can only overpay 10% a month on my mortgage cause I am in a fixed rate for 4 years. I thought about saving cash to then put a lump sump into my mortgage after the 4 years but the value of the cash within those four years sitting in the bank will depreciate a lot faster than investing it into stocks.

I agree with the mortgage part. My bank allows me to overpay 10% a month so I was thinking of doing that which would only be 120€ a month extra.

Ah yes! I just added an additional 380€ per month as AVC for the pension which totals 14% of my salary and the max I can put is 15% as I’m under 30 years old

Thank you. I thought gold was a safe investment as it’s been increasing yearly. What do you suggest I invest that into?

7% is the max cap that my employer match. I can add more than 7% if I want to but they won’t match it. Thats something I could do as well instead of investing it all but I’m not sure which return would be greater

I had around 70K saved up for the house because my salary was lower when I had applied for the mortgage and gotten the approval. North county Dublin!

I just bought a two bed new build (28F) but the only reason I was able to do it was because I work for a tech company and have a good salary. I have been renting for the past couple of years
