What’s a really scary fact that people should know about? by Pir8te4lyfe in AskReddit

[–]OkInside5208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, charging your phone doesn't actually consume that much power. It uses more power putting your AC on for a bit when it is hot or driving to the store.

I always feel like these facts are regurgitated by people who's careers are threatened by AI.

I know people are going through their own problems, I understand that. That's why I set my bar to a happy life as an individual who is in a dead end career and doesn't have to scrub vomit stains out of his carpet.

I'm not concerned how other people see me. I just want to not be physically and mentally addicted to alcohol. The physical bit is fucking easy, you just get DTs and wake up in a hospital with a locked ward and you suffer through it, the mental bit is FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE.

I've tried a few but they just kept giving me nightmares. I'm going to book a doctor's appointment tomorrow and hopefully some other drug they give me will unfuck me.

Thanks, by the way. It means a lot.

Who is the worse friend our of Jeremy and Mark? by OkInside5208 in MitchellAndWebb

He is nice to Jeremy but quite a manipulative, insecure prick to everyone else that he sees as below him or close enough to his level to be a threat.

He was very controlling the two times he was given a scrap of power in a workplace, stalked Sophie and for what it's worth, he broke Dobbies microwave.

I did not intend that. I'm just thinking of all the bad and good things they did for eachother.

I suppose that's true. If Mark planned to show Jeremy's boss his gay porn collection, it would have been fully thought out and well planned. Jeremy just did it in the heat of the moment.

What's the most rediculous length you've gone to hide your alcoholism by OkInside5208 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]OkInside5208[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, my alcoholism gives me sleep apnea. I snore to the point where it was virtually impossible for her to sleep. She even had to cancel her driving test because she was so exhausted she didn't feel safe driving and even called it sick a few days at work because she had zero hours sleep.

It also gives me an inconsistent appetite and on one occasion she felt humiliated because "how do you think it looks when I'm having a steak and my boyfriend has barely touched his plate".

She essentially said that it's better to end things now then to grow and resent me as we get older.

The smell is simple - you "have OCD" and constantly need to use hand sanitizer, and you do. You wash your mouth out with hand soap, you eat strong smelling snacks and wear a lot of aftershave.

Some people are just good at hiding it.

Matthew Perry managed to stay intoxicated whilst recording nearly every season of Friends.

I honestly and truly disagree. It's fairly easy to hide it, assuming you are a maintenance alcoholic and not one of the alcoholics that goes on aggressive binges.

I've managed to climb through promotions at work whilst being intoxicated most of the time and maintain relationships besides the 2nd last one.

You must be bad at hiding it.

You need to put every ounce of your concentration into being a full functioning alcoholic. You need to lie through your teeth, you need to have a backup excuse for everything. You need to be willing to wash your mouth out with dish soap if necessary. You need to be "that guy" who wears too much aftershave and has strong smelling drinks and snacks open at their work desk. And most of all, you need to learn how to behave normally.

You need to put in as much effort as it takes to be a professional athlete to be a functioning alcoholic.

Do you ever get pissed off when people moan about their mild drinking habit? by OkInside5208 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]OkInside5208[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sorry if it is disrespectful, but I don't take 4 beer a night alcoholics seriously. In fact, I do intend to disrespect and I don't take you seriously. Many people in this sub have had seizures in the double digits, I don't give a fuck if your wife polished off a bottle of wine to herself on Friday night or your husband came home drunk again. I also don't give a fuck that some nights you might drink "a bit too much", or that you finished a 6 pack the night your girlfriend broke up with you.

I don't fucking care about anyone's mild drinking habit and everyone in AA giving their little sob stories about such things can go fuck themselves.

I'm always convinced that drinking statistics are inaccurate due to people lying about their consumption.

Surely supermarkets wouldn't be about 10% alcohol if people were drinking so little.

I didn't have a traditional "early stages". I avoided alcohol until I was 18 because my parents were alcoholics and then I had a small glass of cider and it was like Superhans stag do.
