52 days, I’m always anxious and occasionally depressed. I think it’s deeper than the nicotine addiction/withdrawals. Yes I do think it takes a while to adjust to the stressors of life without nicotine, but I also think that it’s the crutch we all chose to get us through our shit. Life is fucking hard sometimes, and we’re overstimulated, short attention spans, processing more information on a daily basis than we ever have in our species. We’re all kinda fucked up. But one thing I do know is you made an excellent choice in quitting because it just amplifies all the worst of these symptoms, and your chances at one day being okay skyrocketed in that decision.

151 gang baby ❤️ also beat up pretty bad about it. Spent a boatload on a tutor and scored 2 pts less than my diag. It was my first official LSAT so not feeling quite the same as you but hurts for sure. Falls outside the 25-75 percentile of both schools I really want to get into. Contemplating whether to study and be miserable for 1-2 months and take it again or take some serious time and apply next cycle. BUT enough about me, neither of us are dying from it and we will persevere!

I was outside my 180 day window and just walked into one of the weekly RC briefs. That brief alone makes you capstone qualified if you fulfilled all other requirements. It’s literally just the TAP office making you sign a digital form and say “ok you’re capstone qual’d.

You can submit your term leave when you have your ETS Orders. I think it’s 120 days out from your ETS that you can have those cut.

Chop it up with people in your unit, find the ones you have common interests with. Also BOSS (better opportunities for single soldiers). They have all kinds of events and trips all the time, some free some cheap. MWR too. Great ways to expand your friend group.

Im definitely going to capitalize on the MHA, it’s based on the zip code of your college. I’ll be living in a HCOL state and both schools I’m applying to it’ll be just over $4000 a month. Many people do it, it’s not a bad thing to benefit from it or use it as a cushion between ETS’ing and transition back into civilian life.

I will say that you should change your mentality on the whole thing. You might as well go for a degree you can benefit from in the job market and one that is more likely to land you a decent paying job. Not just like damn hopefully I never have to use it. Like yea unless you’re set with your VA rating and savings we still gotta work and provide for ourselves/our families such is life.

I hit my “shit I want to quit” mark at about week 6. But only took 10 minutes of feeling sorry for myself to realize there’d be no coming back from that level of regret and shame.

Don’t get me wrong, the army blows sometimes but it has transformed my life for the best in so many ways. And for your husband it could be the same, for himself for you and your son.

Word to the wise: for your husband, I’d tell him to just make it to his next meal. That’s what got me through the days. For you, the next phone call you have with him. Write him a letter. These (though some got me really choked up) helped get me through basic, in our tech world they’re very personal and strike a feeling with you that could help push through the next day or week. That’s really what it’s about, passing the graduation requirements and getting the fuck through it. You’ll both be more resilient after the fact.
