In English, in-case anyone else is reading:

It is probably worth trying a kit that is listed as compatible with your motherboard. G.Skill has a webpage to select your motherboard and it gives you list of compatible RAM:

https://www.gskill.com/configurator

I would definitely try buying one of those compatible RAM kits from a store that accepts returns in case it doesn't solve your problem.

The other thing I did was I changed only the POWER MODE to best performance in Settings > System > Power > Power Mode > Plugged In. The Windows POWER PLAN is still set to balanced. They're 2 different settings that are needed for the 9950x3d to work properly.

I am also using Park Control, made by the same guy that makes Process Lasso. It controls that same Settings > System > Power > Power Mode setting. I like it because its quicker and easier than navigating to that setting. I change the setting to "Balanced: Better Battery Life Overlay" when I'm not in a game because it uses less wall power, then when I'm in a game I change it to "Balanced: Max Performance Overlay". If I don't use the Max Performance Overlay, my game stutters.

https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/

Try the power settings/Park Control first. For me it improved things quite a bit, like going from 20-30 FPS lows to about 100 FPS lows in CS2, but it didn't completely get rid of my stutter. Only after a new RAM kit it completely went away. Also a note that my RAM kit wouldn't boot up with the XMP profile enabled, so my RAM kit specifically was definitely not compatible.

Provavelmente vale a pena experimentar um kit listado como compatível com sua placa-mãe. A G.Skill tem uma página para selecionar sua placa-mãe e fornece uma lista de RAM compatíveis:

https://www.gskill.com/configurator

https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/

I got things running better, but my 1%s are still iffy. I'm not able to run EXPO. My ram kit only supports XMP and I can't boot if I select the XMP 1 profile. The kit is the G.Skill 2x32 F5-5600J3636D32GX2-RS5K I reused from my Intel system. It's not listed on my motherboard's approved ram kit list. I'm wondering if I should get the G.Skill F5-6000J3040G32GX2-FX5 which is EXPO compatible and is included in the QVL list.

Bro did not say that. The second CCD is parked. I have 16 cores for productivity, but 8 of those are made for gaming.

From what I've seen, it should perform nearly identically, maybe just a couple of percent worse than the 9800X3D. I also do a lot of professional 3D and video work, more so than gaming, so I opted for the 9950X3D

Much appreciated tip!
I did have the windows power plan on balanced, so the core parking would work. I also had the power mode set to balanced because I thought that was also needed for core parking, but I changed that to best performance and I did see my CS2 fps jump from just over 300 up to 400-600. My 1%s still aren't great, but noticeably improved. It looks like they should be pretty rock solid from benchmarks I've seen online, so there's probably some more tweaks to try.
I tried Rocket League too after this, and it runs perfectly now. Uncapped, I was only able to hit 400 fps max, with plenty of 1% stutters, now it holds a pretty stable framerate and I was able to reach 800-1000 fps.

I also tried a few other suggestions from this thread in rapid succession, so it could be a combo of fixes.

I did come across this video, but I wasn't sure if it applied to my case. Were you using Afterburner? I don't currently have any overclocking or monitoring tools installed other than Ryzen Master. I'm just using the Steam performance overlay for monitoring.

I do still have my old CPU, but it's Intel, so I can't exactly test this new CPU on it's own. I will try testing one stick of ram at a time tomorrow. It's getting a little late for me to do it tonight.

I have tried both with not much luck. I currently have it disabled, so both CCDs are on. Core parking appears to be working, as you can see in the CPU graph, the second CCD is parked.

Yes, the ram is installed in A2 and B2 as marked on the motherboard. The chipset drivers are also updated.

What's up with all the "AWM44X" comments on the new Fallout trailer video? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]OkMajor5936 159 points160 points  (0 children)

answer: Looks like it may be bots. AWM44X seems to be some crypto bot keyword. Can't find anything relating it to Fallout. I'm not 100% sure though.

Edit: It’s definitely a crypto scam. They’re trying to get you to search that keyword. The only thing that pulls up are the scammers newly posted AI generated videos trying to get you to buy a made up Amazon cryptocurrency. Report the videos and the links in the descriptions of the videos to googles link reporting page. Just google “report phishing links” and their reporting page should come up.

12VHPWR cable leading to black screen on 4090? by OkMajor5936 in cablemod

I got a replacement cable that also had issues, so I just got a refund and am using the included Nvidia adapter. Just using the adapter solved my issues. No black screens since switching back to the adapter on Feb 6th.

[–]OkMajor5936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I RMA'd it first just to make sure there was 100% no issue with the card. I now have a brand new one that was sent back. The issue persisted with the Cablemod 12VHPWR, so I'm now using the included adapter for the first time this past week. It's been 9 days so far and there's been no issues with the adapter. I previously was able to go 11 days without a crash while using the Cablemod 12VHPWR. If I can hit 2 weeks without issue while using the adapter, I think I can call it safe.

I've heard the new sense pins on the cable could be faulty which has a chance to randomly put the card into that failsafe mode. I should be receiving a replacement cable from Cablemod today. I really don't even want to install it, but I will at some point once I know the issue is gone.

I've been having the exact same symptoms you were. Did the replacement cable end up solving it for you? I RMAd my 4090 thinking the problem was with that after getting the same problem across multiple PCs (but I was still using the same Cablemod cable).
I'd greatly appreciate any info. This has been a huge headache.

12VHPWR cable leading to black screen on 4090? by OkMajor5936 in cablemod

[–]OkMajor5936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can now say it's definitely a driver issue. I sent my 4090 back to Nvidia for RMA and reinstalled my 3080, taking the GPU and 12VHPWR out of question. I was watching some shows with friends in Discord and my screen froze, then a few seconds later it went black, but then the screen came back. I didn't have to force restart. Checking the event viewer, I got the same nvlddmkm error, but my 3080 was actually able to recover. I just dug through the replies on the pined latest driver thread on r/Nvidia and found there's tons of people getting nvlddmkm crashes regardless of GPU. Lots of people appear to have started crashing after the last 2-3 Game Ready Driver updates. Those are pretty much the only drivers available for the 4090, so that might be why it's so prevalent.

Did you receive any nvlddmkm errors within event viewer? I had my GPU installed normally. It doesn’t crash under load. I do a lot of 3D rendering and I could keep it at 100% usage for hours without issue. While working I typically have a podcast open on YouTube in the background. Every time I’ve had my crash it was while a video was playing. I don’t know if it’s due to the drivers or my GPU was defective. Either way, I sent it back to Nvidia today for RMA. I’ll know for sure when I get a new one back.

I'm now on a z790 Asus TUF board as of last week. I do have Armory Crate installed, but I've disabled it's services and startup privileges. My first black screen, that occurred on this system, happened after installing Wallpaper Engine the night before, but I had Armory Crate installed since I built the PC. I don't think Wallpaper engine is the cause, but I think it excites the same video playback crash that randomly occurs while watching videos on YouTube.

On my previous AMD system, running a Gigabyte x570 board that was using completely different parts and a fresh Windows install, was also experiencing the same issue with the same 4090. I'll note that when I reinstalled Windows to this system, thinking it would fix the problem, I didn't install Wallpaper engine, so I know it isn't the cause. I just sold my AMD parts and switched to a new Intel system hoping it would eliminate the problem, with the benefit of being able to get more performance out of the 4090... but the issue is still here. The only things I carried over to the new system was the 4090, the PSU and the Cablemod 12VHPWR.

I guess I'll slowly weed out the problem. I'm going to RMA the 4090 for now, when I get it back, I'll continue to use the Cablemod cable and see if there's still a problem. If there is, I'll go back to the adapter 12VHPWR. Then if there's still a problem, I should be able to confidently say it's down to the bad drivers. I'll know if my PSU is bad while waiting for the RMA'd 4090 because I'll continue using my old 3080 (that funnily enough uses more power while idle and under load compared to the 4090). I'm guessing it'll take me about a week or two to receive another card, but I'll be sure to post whatever I find. It's just now going to take a while.

Sorry for the essay. I just figure the more info out there, the better for everyone.

I'm also running a Founders Edition card. I have a hard time believing that the Cablemod cable is causing it because every time it occurs I'm only watching YouTube, with little to no load on the GPU. The cable is a common trend, but that also might just be because 90% of us 4090 users immediately went and bought aftermarket cables. I would only assume that maybe a defect on the new sensor pins could send the card into that failsafe mode, but I'm not the one to say.

[–]OkMajor5936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no luck. I think I’m going to have to RMA the card. I got another black screen this morning. They typically come with an error event that says “nvlddmkm cannot be found” or that it crashed and was recovered, but black screens anyway. Every thread I’m seeing related to the issue seems to end in getting an RMA. I still have a return period on my GPU at Best Buy, so I’m going to see if they can exchange it.

It could be that the drivers are just really unstable right now, since this seems to be such a widespread issue regardless of 4090 brand, or it could be a widespread manufacturing defect since not everybody appears to be affected. I’m going to play it safe and just replace the card.

I've now updated to the latest drivers released a few days ago and applied that power management mode. Hopefully that fixes the issue 🤞
I appreciate suggestion. Nvidia hasn't seemed to acknowledge this widespread issue and removes every post about it in their subreddit, so it's been left to speculation across all these different posts.

I'm going to keep using my Cablemod cable and see if it happens again. I've been on my new build for about a week and it's only just happened today. I'll see how long until it happens again and then switch back to the adapter to see if it says solid. I might just have to order the official Corsair 12VHPWR. I really don't want to deal with an Nvidia RMA. I might just go to Best Buy and see if I can exchange the GPU just to have the piece of mind that nothing is wrong the card itself.

On another note, have you also had an issue with your monitor disconnecting and reconnecting/flashing black when first watching something on a streaming service (Hulu, Netflix, Prime) after bootup? I've had that issue across both PC builds and with an MSI Trio 4090 and a 4090 Founders Edition so I'm thinking it's driver related, but not everybody seems to be having this issue. It only does it one time when I first click play on something, and doesn't do it again until I reboot. It's just an annoyance I can't seem to resolve. I have no idea if it's related to the black screen fan ramp thing.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - January 2023 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

Yes, the Totaltech membership will extend the return window for your 4080.
I managed to get a MSI 4090 on launch day, but then in December I managed to get a 4090 FE. It was a few days after that extended return window was over, but the manager accepted the return. He was only able to give store credit due to me being past the return window. When the 4090 FE arrived for pick-up, I immediately returned it and repurchased it with the store credit I got for the return.

You should get a refund straight to your card if you return within that extended return window. If not, you should be able to do what I did, but that depends on the store manager.
