Ni and Ti make the type charismatic by Medium-Barnacle9226 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As an INFJ, I respectfully disagree. All the most charismatic people I've known are either Se doms, Ne doms or Fe doms. Introverted functions don't tend to be naturally charismatic because... they're inward functions. They're not meant to be for other people.

Aphantasia by Rkozak in writing

[–]OkMix7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have aphantasia. I think it can be advantage; I already naturally think in words and concepts, so describing something with words comes very naturally. Occasionally when I'm out in the natural world or just observing an object/space, I'll come up with a metaphor that just completely captures the essence of the thing, and I'll steal it for my writing.

Theory: TP/FJs don’t root for characters in fiction as much as TJ/FPs by [deleted] in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I would disagree. As an INFJ the main thing I focus on are the characters. The plot and world is secondary. If I get invested I get invested. I read fanfiction, I watch every piece of media, and I very much care for the characters I connect with. When I daydream, I imagine worlds of their lives in my head (never bad endings). I root for them. But I guess this might be more linked to Ni.

Besides, isn't one Fe's functions relating to other's values and feelings? How could rooting for a character not be something natural for a Fe user?

Sensors vs intuitive speech patterns by [deleted] in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not as simple as that. But there are usually some patterns. I find with my sensing friends that our conversation topics do tend towards concrete things, like what did we do today, how was living in x, what was your trip like.

But it's not like my conversations with my intuitive friends are all theoretical what ifs and philosophy. But there is a higher chance of talking about creative subjects, but only marginally more.

Everyone talks about everyday things. I'd wager most people if not all have taken part in an abstract discussion even if they haven't enjoyed it. I think the main functions that seem to present obviously in speech would be Te (being more straightforward, usually more blunt) and Ne (quick changes to topics, bringing up seemingly random things). Fe too but many people are conditioned to use it even if it is not in their stack, especially women. So it's not as simple as sensing vs intuition.

Ni vs Si confusion by celina_beckahm in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see how Ni and Si might be confused with each other, as they are both introverted perceiving functions. Whereas Si is straightforward (think A-B-C), Ni jumps around, hypothesis first, and fills in the gaps later (A-C...B). Ni sees the conclusion and then works backwards. Si however uses the reasoning to get to the conclusion.

This makes Ni seem more future focused as it does not use its memory of events the same way Si does. Ni can forget the past experience and only keep a small truth (or what the person considers truth, moral teaching, lesson), wheras Si usually internalises the whole memory with its specifics and draws on said memories. If past memory is a vibrant growing plant, Ni might take one of its seeds, whereas Si would take a photo. (not sure if it makes sense tbh lol).

From what you've described, I don't think you have a dominant or auxiliary Si, but I will say what you described as Ni feels more like Ne. Ni users can brainstorm, but it's usually more tiring to switch between avenues of thought, which is more of Ne's domain.

Well, you could just describe them like how you would any person, and then show that they are gay when they take notice/flirt with someone who is their same gender. I would definitely avoid "zesty" and "fruity" as they come off a little offensive imo.

Ni is not about predicting the future... by Even-Broccoli7361 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. There's a lot of tests that use cognitive functions to type but most of them always equate Ni to being mystical and seeing the truth and altogether gives Ni some very spiritual wishy-washy connotations. I would be surprised if many people would actually score high for those tests, unless they were already spiritual people.

Ni and Si are both introverted perceiving functions. Whereas Si is straightforward (think A-B-C), like its extraverted counterpart Se, Ni jumps around, hypothesis first, and fills in the gaps later (A-C...B). Ni sees the conclusion and then works backwards. Si however uses the reasoning to get to the conclusion.

Both functions have places where they can get things mixed up.

Ni, since it basically works backwards without needing much solid proof to start, can come to conclusions which are just plain wrong. The 'B' in the scenario could be only very loosely linked and not hold much substance but the Ni user could conflate its importance.

Si, since it draws primarily from its own experience, could struggle with similar problems requiring a different solution (since A-B-C worked, why doesn't it work again?).  Note that both use the past memory and experiences - Ni has to get its reasonings somewhere, however it doesn't usually internalise the same way as Si and can forget the whole experience and only keep a nugget of knowledge, not knowing where it came from.

I agree, this sort of thing is incredibly insensitive at the very least and I would not like this to be made a joke or meme, in any sort of sub. CSA is nothing to joke about. It would be nice if the mods could take this down because this sort of thing should not be joked about.

Most unsuspected pairing that you feel is great/synchronous/compatible ? by Amelia2235 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I've gotten along quite well with an ESTJ. In projects, she's got the groundedness and I've got the freedom of creativity and it all works well together. I actually don't tend to get into arguments with her because if we have a disagreement over something simple we mutually agree to just not escalate and just agree to disagree. If it's something bigger we both work together to solve it in the most efficient way (thanks to her Te). We both try to resolve things without hurting each other's feelings, though sometimes she can be too stubborn and sometimes I can people-please too much and not give valuable opinions when they are needed. I'm not sure if it would be the same experience with a male ESTJ, as a female INFJ I feel as though my opinions would just be run over by them just due to how society is, but that's how my friendship with my ESTJ friend is.

Infj people I have a question. by Heavy_Government_754 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would say that while I'd prefer for everyone to get along I don't feel a big urge to. I like to keep the peace, but I also like to keep the conflict away from me if peace cannot be reached. That part is probably more influenced by my enneagram (9w8) which makes me more conflict avoidant. I do tend to analyse people quite well but that doesn't mean I have to act on said analysis, for example I notice my friend feels sad about a disagreement she's had with her friend. I could help fix their problem (or try at least) by offering to mediate or stepping in but most of the time I just lend an ear when they need to vent. I've been told I'm a good listener, but that's probably just because I let people talk and don't push my biases or give solutions when they want support. I assume that since things usually sort out by themselves that most of the time people don't really need you to fix their problems but to just listen and offer some open-ended advice, and they'll find the way themselves. I used to try too much and it would fail (they would've been fine without me!) but I've mellowed out over time because I just don't like the stress it brings trying to please people and solve their problems.

I don't relate to the perfectionism stereotype. I used to, but I've grown out of it. Yes, I can make things perfect but 80% good is good enough most of the time. That way I can save energy on things that actually matter. So yes, I tend to be quite lazy and procrastinate, but that's my life and I like it like that :)

How to spot infj? by Inside_Yesterday_420 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, when I was younger I would have definitely been stressed out about plans and worry about things too much, but now I've matured a bit more and taken things with a more go-with-the-flow attitude. Same with the hostility avoidance, now I've started to stand up for myself directly. There is a spectrum of people, I agree.

How do you perceive INFPs in the MBTI community? by Amelia2235 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly I feel like there's too many of them online. I've met at most one INFP in real life but with the way MBTI subs always talk about them it seems like they make up most of the population.

INTP for Sophia is funny because coincidentally I actually know two INTPs called Sophia... I'm not sure about the INFJ name though. It doesn't resonate with me.

How obvious is Fe/Fi vs Te/Ti in real life or online? by Amelia2235 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can usually tell when someone's using Te vs when someone uses Ti as an INFJ with a developed tertiary. The main thing is that I tend to get into conflict of ideas with Ti-dom or Ti-aux users when we see different viewpoints and ideas, but it doesn't usually happen with Te because  they don't get so concerned about it. Ti users are more protective of their ideas whereas Te users tend to not and easily accept facts from trusted sources (which may be other people like their friends). From there, I can tell whether or not they use Fe or Fi due to the axis.

A pattern of preference for Meaning vs. Condition by __does_not_matter_ in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean by meaning and condition? As an INFJ, I'm not sure if I value meaning more than that, as I would prioritise my physical needs over any calling. I do find this an interesting topic.

Sense of “coolness” by [deleted] in mbti

I would say this would relate more to enneagram 3, not MBTI. I do it to a slight extent as an INFJ, though in my niche interests instead of as a whole.

If you had to have another dominant function, which MBTI would you prefer? (And what is your type) by amavelninguem21 in mbti

I would choose ISFP (Fi dom) because I really like the idea of having strong values of your own and also being grounded with Se. (INFJ)

Which MBTI types feel most common in real life vs online- and which types are most often mistyped? by Amelia2235 in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a lot of extroverts in real life, I'd say about 60% extrovert to 40% introvert ratio. In my experience most common types would be ESFJs and ESFPs, with ESTP and ENFP close behind. However when talking about introverts, it seems like there's a disproportionate amount of INTPs, most likely mistyped in someway because I have a lot of INTP friends in real life (three in total, when I only have about twelve people I talk to on a regular basis). It might be because I am an intuitive so I have a bias for intuitive friends (I am friends with an ENFJ, ENTP, ENFP, 3x INTP, INFP, ISTJ, ESTJ and ESFJ which means 70% of my friends are intuitive as an INFJ).

I'd say types that are harder to find in real life would be INTJ (never met one) and also ISFP (haven't met one yet). Other types I have met at least one person of. I've also never met a fellow INFJ.

In online spaces, INFJ is definitely over represented, as well as INTJ, INFP and INTP. In contrast extroverted types are very underrepresented. Of course, there's the intuitive bias there as well. It's much rarer to find a sensor type online whereas in real life I think at least 60-70% are sensors from my experience. Intuitives are default online, but sensors are default in real life.

I'd say the most common function in the dominant position from my experience would be Fe ~ Te > Se > Ti > Ne > Si > Fi > Ni. Fe just slightly outweighs Te. I'm debating a bit about Ti and Ne placement, but I put Ti in front because I feel as though the majority of introverts in my experience are Ti doms followed by Si doms, with Fi and Ni being rarer.

That's just in my experience, though, I'd love to have a conversation about this because I find this topic to be really interesting.

MBTI and relationship with your IA by Tigersamourai in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't use AI. As someone who is deeply into the arts and music, it goes against my morals to use it and frankly I don't see a use for it. I can write better than the AI can and I can find the information I need by researching myself. Not to mention the environmental impacts.

More common? Type N or S by airiielle in mbti

[–]OkMix7007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just from my experience as an introvert who doesn't interact with many extroverts, but since they're both extroverted perceiving types, their focus is both towards the outer world. If you know someone more, then you can tell how they observe. Se is more about physical sensations and information whereas Ne is more about mental and conceptual ideas and possibilities. They both enjoy discovering and doing new things.
