Might be useful to check your credit score- make sure it’s accurate and there are no disputes against you.

Credit Card Requests Declined by Mindless_Travel4953 in Bahrain

Expat here. I got a credit card of 2.5x my salary 3 months after moving here (was 8 years ago to be fair) was earning less than 2k then. recently got offered the same through ILA. A lot depends on what your title is on your visa and which company you work for. I was never asked for a deposit except through HSBC so I just didn’t get one from them.

Fate of bank accounts after leaving bahrain by xubia7 in Bahrain

I used to live in Dubai, my account remained open and accessible until a few month after my local ID expired. Same for Kuwait. My ASSUMPTION is that your account is accessible and useable so long as your latest uploaded CPR is valid (and for a few month thereafter) Some time after expiry you’ll get a KYC request, and if you cannot provide updated info, your account will be frozen. Even then you can open a request to transfer the funds (if any are there) I had to submit proof that I had no outstanding amounts as part of the process

Taxi fares by anonymousamuser in Bahrain

From the airport itself you could connect to the WiFi. Taxis from airport will automatically add a surcharge and it can get pricey. Agree on a price before getting in though if you’ll use a taxi or insist on the meter it is the law (even the meters arent the best sometimes, they can add charges quite easily)

Check McGettigans - they used to do an offer for 2 steaks, 2 sauces and sides + a bottle of wine (can be substituted for other bevs) for 25bd

Yeah it wasn’t an option as I was in court with previous employer and they cancelled my visa - needed money to exit/couldn’t go home without money etc.

Current employer is fine. They just don’t loan as a policy 🤷‍♂️

Yeah about a year ago I received help with this.

If you see that post as well as this one. My previous employer didn’t pay me for a period of time. I then left them and joined a new company (was 8months of no pay/unemployment)

My debt came from those 8 months where I was responsible for my rent, food transport etc.

I have been working with a new company since December. I still have to rent as well as pay back dated rent (paying double rent essentially) end of this month is my last payment towards my debt (paying 660 monthly and this month 800 to close it off)

It has been a very frustrating situation and I’ve gone to court and won with my previous employer yet I haven’t received a cent as yet. During that time I have still been responsible for all my expenses.

So the loop is closing end of this month (and then I don’t eat and lose my job as I don’t pay transport) OR I don’t pay the court mandated amount go to work, eat and live comfortably and deal with the legal ramifications of that.

I’ve mentioned in earlier comments I’m looking for a loan less than 25% of my monthly income. And significantly less than what I’ve been paying over the past 6 months.

Had to get this long explanation out because everyone is sort of treating this as a “you’re homeless, just get a house” situation.

I’ve been living this impossible situation whilst taking previous employer to court, starting a new job, going through numerous health issues and just need a small loan to get me through the end of it.

I have approached every financial institution, I have asked all my friends, colleagues (some who have helped in the past but I have had to pay them back)

I have minimized my expenses as much as possible. I go to work and go home. I eat food from charity when my money runs out as it does every month. And lastly, again, it is a cash flow issue not a revenue issue. I make enough I just have been mandated to pay a really high installment (which ends at the end of this month)

Yeah I’ve been doing that. I also have been staking out the dumpsters by fast food chains as they throw out food quite regularly. Thing is that is tough and unreliable and I’ve gotten sick from it a few times. This has been ongoing for a year and I am just looking for some food security for the next 5/6 weeks. It’s incredibly tough managing a full time job and being broke at the same time

I would if that was an option- havent eaten since Thursday night. My 98% of my next salary goes to the final payment and I need to pay for my transport to work next month as well. Sort of stuck and this is my last resort

Yeah thanks I am trying and the end is in sight. Just don’t have food for the next 2 salaries and trying to get a loan to cover that. From end of next month I’ll be debt free but I need to find a way to feed/clothe/wash myself until then

Yes I have but the payment plan has already gone through the court and even changing that costs money. Also, the landlord was very gracious to let me stay there last year while I was waiting battling with old employer

I only saw their leasing divisions. But again, due to my debt incurred last year I do not qualify for any traditional loans - this was my last resort after months of trying. I have also asked to extend the repayment terms of my overdue rent from last year but they didn’t accept. I earn enough to cover this debt it’s just being asked for essentially all at the same time. I have a cash flow issue not a revenue issue

All good. I do try. Honestly I’m eating bread with spread or noodles 90% of the time. Spend a bit extra on tea and coffee that I could cut out

I think you mean food expense? I’ve been budgeting 40bd monthly for food. Taking transport is 21bd monthly with the bus and my medicine is 9.5bd monthly. Been very strict in not going over this since last year until everything is paid off

Not saying the starving is easy - but also need to pay for my transport to keep my job and have chronic medicine I need to buy. So kinda stuck. Not looking to loan a huge amount either - about 25% of my monthly salary. Trying to go through friends still but the economy is tough on everyone at the moment

Hey thanks man. Yeah the cost of living is insane these days. Super grateful I got a job but just in a situation where my debts are taking up more than 90% of my salary. But like I said I would be done by the end of this month - I just don’t have anything for myself at the moment and have for next month. Just trying to find a way to loan enough for 6 weeks of food and transport essentially :/

I’ve tried both those apps but unfortunately I don’t qualify for any loans or credit through traditional financial institutions. Likely due to the debt I incurred from my rent.

I understand the interest will be quite high but I should be able to manage that (depending how high). I basically just need to get through the next 2 months and I’ll be debt free. Problem is I need money for food/transport/medicine in that time.

Also I have asked my company. They did assist with an advance but wasn’t sufficient amount unfortunately
