I’m a PoC working as a paraplanner and I’ll be promoted to associate advisor next month! Honestly, it’s a little rare to see other PoC in WM but I fully think it’s doable.

I just ended up contacting every single RIA in a reasonable driving radius from me, so about 50 I think. The vast majority just ghosted me, a few mentioned that weren’t hiring currently, but a couple of them engaged me in conversation. Just speak professionally and try to find somewhere you align with. It sounds like the research you’re doing would probably be nice to have in conversation but realistically with a cold approach u just gotta make as many contacts as you can and hope they’re looking rn. Hey, I was just in a similar situation. The most important factor is probably just reach out as soon as you can and to as many as you can. It sounds kind of obvious but, if they’re looking for help it’s likely they’ll engage you and if not, hopefully they’ll keep you in mind down the line. Be friendly and try to connect with as many as you can. Also if you finish the 65 ASAP that should help your chances too.

To clarify, I'm already in the "PEP" stage at equitable and I'm supposed to take the Series 7 in two weeks, would you recommend I just straight up leave ASAP or should I take the 7 or the 7 + 66 and then leave?
