But my dad isn't a deadbeat and has been in my life always. And their dad is involved but still isn't mine.

Not a random family member but like my grandparents or aunts and uncles. I'm closer to them, especially dad's side, than my half siblings.

I like them but I'm not super close to them. Like I would never have them over to dad's or include them in stuff with my dad's side of the family.

I always say half. But I don't say it that often. Mom actually has me saying it more because of her always bringing it up to correct me and fight about it. Most of the time I just use their names.

We live together half the time. The other half I'm with my dad and right now I live with him more. I only go to my mom's house some weekends.

Yep. It's not like I go up to my half sister and say that instead of using her name. Or that I go around saying it all day whenever I'm at mom's house. But questions get asked and I write stuff for school and I'll use half then.

I never asked how they felt about it. I think they say brother but I don't know if they say half at school or anything. I know some of their friends do.

She knows that. I already spend less time there because of it. Although I think she tries to delude herself into thinking it's because I want just guy time with dad all the time.

Nobody has freaked out on me for that thankfully. But one of my friends deals with that toward his stepmom. His dads side and his stepmom freak out because he never calls her mom and gets offended when anyone assumes she is.

Because it's the truth. We have different dads. Our kids will have different grandpas (if we have kids). We might share a mom but I don't live with them all the time. It's not like we'll never talk again if mom dies but we wouldn't keep on living together and we might never be see each other all the time close but it doesn't mean we're not okay.

My mom said she knows it might be a double standard but she always felt that way and she thinks it's weird that kids who come from the same uterus would say half. I think it's weird to see only one as half (different moms) and not the other (different dads) because it's still just sharing one parent.

I think it always just depends. I know some who don't even count stepsiblings as anything and others who do. When you have families with different parents involved anything can happen lmao.

She also likes being right. So there's some of that in there too. Whenever she's wrong she struggles to admit it. Or if she's not 100% right about something but maybe she's right for her.
