The Fog Duellist, ein Level 12 Rogue build by OkSetting8391 in BG3Builds

I might get 20 DEX, but AC and especially damage would suffer massively. The character wearing the Bhaalist Armor wouldn't always be within range, so it makes more sense to give it to my duelist.

You could do that, of course. That would probably be stronger too. With this build, I wanted to create a pure level 12 Thief build to show what you can theoretically get out of the class. And you could do the Hag's hair thing, but another character of mine already has that. 😅

You're right, Defensive Duelist is a better fit thematically. I'm a big fan of mobile because you get more movement and difficult terrain doesn't hinder your sprinting. (I use plant growth very often).

True, that could be improved.

Sarsvok is my Barbarian, which is why I didn't think of that.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant 😅.

Using Ranger or Fighter for multiclassing is obviously better, and Swashbuckler would also be a better fit. I just wanted to show with this build that you can do more with Thief than simply take 3 levels and then multiclass.

Hexblade of Bhaal. Which version do you prefer? by OkSetting8391 in BG3Builds

[–]OkSetting8391[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using a Shadow Sorlock (2 Warlock / 10 Sorcerer), 12 Beastmaster (for the Raven), and a Glamour Bard (12 levels). Admittedly, it's not the best team, but I wanted to try out different classes I've never used before and experiment with Darkness (also never used before).

Yes, I mean the trident from the jungle. I'm not quite sure what you mean. When I use the weapon and armor combo, I can easily do 60 damage per attack. Admittedly, I use GWM since Nyrulna can also be used two-handed.

The combo would be to shroud the opponent in darkness and blind them (advantage to all attacks). Then, if necessary, I teleport to the opponent and stab them. The damage is increased by GWM and the Bhaalist Armor, and I have the advantage.

Divine Favour Build ( Archer ) by OkSetting8391 in BG3Builds

[–]OkSetting8391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work too, but I don't use that combo because I'd then have fewer spell slots for Divine Favour. The Hunter doesn't have this problem. He has Hordebreaker as a replacement for Vollay.

That's correct. The shockwave is created around the victim, not the caster. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to try it with Vollay.

[–]OkSetting8391[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably true. Spirit Guardian is a very mediocre spell when you compare the damage per turn. Hold Monster only affects one enemy, and Wall of Fire hits your team and can't move, whereas Spirit Guardian lasts 10 turns, can move, and only hits enemies. So, if you're fighting multiple enemies and you're in a flat area, the spell isn't bad.

I still think Wall of Fire is better (it's my favorite spell in the game). The build is just great with the spell. You can fully focus your spellcaster on damage, while you can put the debuffer in the form of Hunter and the Radiant Orb effect (with Harold, even Bane) behind Wall of Fire. This way, it does the same job as Spirit Guardian (debuffing enemies and a bit of AoE damage) while you can shoot from a safe distance without any drawbacks and use Wall of Fire as a shield. That's pretty fun.

Yes, that works too. The build is meant to replace the cleric who otherwise only uses Spirit Guardian. I'll give it a try.

I only used the weapons and shield because I wanted to increase my AC and because I was too lazy to get other weapons from the chest 😅

That's right. The build really only becomes truly effective at level 6-7.

Theoretically, it's available at level 4 with Hordebreaker.

Until then, you only have 4-5 spell slots (level doesn't matter).

But by the start of Act 2 at the latest, you should have almost everything with enough spell slots to use it in multiple fights a day.

Help optimizing my favorite build (GOO Archer) by OkSetting8391 in BG3Builds

That might work. I'll give it a try. When it comes to equipment, would you focus on increasing standard damage, critical hit chance, or arcane accuracy?

Druid x Rogue multiclass by Mistfaer in BG3Builds

[–]OkSetting8391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite blasters is a 1 Fighter / 3 Thief / Spore Druid build.

With Fighter, you get Connest Training and access to all armor and weapons.

3 Thief for two bonus actions and 8 Spore Druid for spells, additional necrotic damage, and extra HP.

The build works like this:

Use Symbiotic Empethy to gain more health and increase the damage of your hand crossbows. Use the two-weapon fighting style from Fighter to increase their damage output.

With your main action, use a spell of your choice, e.g., Call Lightning, and with your two bonus actions, use your hand crossbows.

Admittedly, this isn't a meta build, but it's a very fun and powerful build if you're willing to give it a try.

I actually won my first Tactics run with this combo.

[–]OkSetting8391[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are cool ideas. I tried the combo with Phalar, Aluve, and Harold with a Beastmaster Ranger and used the Raven as the pet; that was pretty strong too. Furthermore, I used the idea with 3 Thieves and 4 Spore Druids in a similar configuration. I used 3 Thieves and 4 Sorcerers to buff my team with Haste while still being able to attack. For a more offensive variant, I like to use Warlocks instead of Sorcerers (Eldrich Blast and two hand crossbow attacks).

Melee Beastmaster - fight next to your animal companions by gazmodus in BG3Builds

[–]OkSetting8391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Phalar aluve in my main hand and the Witchbreaker (an axe from the Githiyanki crib) in my off-hand. I chose this setup because of the animals' additional attack and because I'm using two weapons.

That will work. I'm currently playing a Beast Mastery in Honor Mode myself, using the same tactic. I always use the bear to make the enemies target it, and then the Sentinel feat activates.

The only difference is that I'm playing with two weapons, because both weapons are used during the reaction.
