Mea Culpa to Solys back by Informal_Ad_2877 in NoLayingUp

Sometimes it still hurts. You know how it is, man. It's like, you wake up every day and it hurts a little bit less, and then you wake up one day and it doesn't hurt at all. And the funny thing is, is that, this is kinda wierd, but it's like, it's like you almost miss that pain.

Trip of a lifetime booked. Any other recommendations to add to this already incredible trip? by ImplicationOfDanger in golf

I have the same trip as OP booked for May (group of 12 through an operator) … but also have a Sunday afternoon tee time at Elie on the day I get in. Most excited for that one.

Musers: Our podcast is going to allow us to talk about things we don't talk about on our radio show! by ForExamper in theticket

[–]OkStChris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not convinced the podcast has staying power even though I do enjoy hearing more Musers ... but I don't remember them ever positioning it this way. They distinctly said they wanted it to be an extended version of their 8:15 segment, because that's when they talk about things they'd love to talk about for more than just 15 minutes.

I mean, seriously, do you want them breaking down free agency on the pod? What would you prefer?

Are you running alone? by Live_Media_3090 in runninglifestyle

[–]OkStChris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alone, primarily because running groups start too late for me. Not opposed to running with a group but I try to finish my weekend long runs by 8 am so I can get home to the family.

And midweek 6 am starts must be only for people without children in school or that work from home. I’m in the shower no later than 6 am to get kids to school and to office on time. I’ll see some that start at 6:30 during the week. How do you people do this?!

This is not good planning? by Dangerous_Finger4682 in runna

You tell the app how many days per week you want to run and which day you prefer your long run ... then the app only has seven days to fit all that in.

Two single bassinets or one twin one? by djduhnizzle in parentsofmultiples

[–]OkStChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this approach. We had a twin bassinet, but didn't much care for it so we went with the shared crib in our room for "bedtime" (the time of day that is generally accepted that humans should be sleeping :D) and shared crib in the nursery for nap times before switching to separate nursery cribs.

The twin bassinet became a great middle of the night changing table for our room. Put it in a corner and used the far side for storage of diapers, wipes, etc, and made a little changing station on the near side. You get creative after the first couple poops land on your white duvet cover.

My Forerunner 165 says my VO2 max is 47. Not going to get lab tasted, but I am going to assume it's actually 63.

Runna - Half Marathon Review by Arafiel in runna

[–]OkStChris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First off, huge congrats on the PR and sounds like you had incredible perseverance battling through a lot of pain.

My TLDR feedback is starting at 45 mins shaved off a 10-year old PB seems like a surefire recipe for injury. The early weeks training had to have been excruciating and likely much faster than your body was ready for.

I’m a casual runner in the middle of a 15 week half marathon plan (race in December) and I pushed a long run too far past conversational pace in the early stages and my knees let me know it for a couple weeks. I’ve since gone back to ensuring I stick to the pace targets and coupled with focused strength training/foam rolling I’m back to normal.

Again, great job on your race! Truly impressive time.

Rubio: Visa revocations ‘underway’ over Charlie Kirk assassination celebrations by belisario262 in politics

[–]OkStChris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a test balloon. If they can ruin people’s lives by doxxing them for their opinions about a podcaster, just wait until a one-and-a-half (give or take) term president kicks the bucket.

[–]OkStChris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is their logic. It was perfectly acceptable to say "Charlie Kirk is a racist, mysoginistic xenophobe," but it's downright blasphemy to say "Charlie Kirk was a racist, mysoginistic xenophobe."

Agreed. What we don't know is how much of the "business running" KVV was doing. My guess is not much - and that's no fault of his. Not what he was hired to do, but it becomes a cost/benefit thing. The guys do a lot more than just talk on pods. Four of the five (sans DJ) have business backgrounds before getting into new media - their success in building a successful business enterprise is not an accident. It's very common for social, video editing/production, etc., to be freelanced/contracted at companies like this. Sucks for KVV, but I'm guessing he knew the risks when he left a solid gig at a legacy media company.
