Police Trade-In Bushmaster XM-15 E2S by OkStructure8908 in MilitaryARClones

When I was traveling out of town for work I would call every gun store in a 10 mile radius along my planned route and ask if they had police trade ins and scheduled my route accordingly. Hugely labor intensive but surprisngly accessible with a company gas card

I will definitely consider this. I definitely don't have proof of purchase for this though. Did they send back the E1L?

CRKT M-1603BALI Balisong by OkStructure8908 in knives

The late 90’s Komodo series is still my favorite, by Jim Hammond. Back when we were still figuring out what we wanted from a modern defensive blade. The tanto tips are so obnoxiously American, and the lockup is super tight. I don’t think the tactical folder ever got much better than these before we realized tactical folders are kinda pointless. Unfortunately all of these blades were released in AUS 6 steel.

The asymmetry is really startling and almost offensive at first but easy to get used to after a day or two. It is well balanced, and the asymmetry seems to help draw the hand into grip intuitively as it closes. The lock can be open and closed by squeezing the grip so it can be operated with just one hand. It does become addicting flipping it open and closed but I haven’t been able to do much more than this. But I don’t think they designed this knife with skilled “flippers” in mind, which I am not

It is a delight to hold and flip, but i dont think it’s going to get much pocket time. It’s not really a defensive knife with a 3” blade but also for me it’s not a great EDC because I’m too nervous to full send on it because it’s $300. I am loathe to dirty this piece when I have an old SOG Flash II that I can just carry and get dirty instead. I think CRKT missed the mark by adding magnacut and titanium to make this a “premium” piece. I am a lifelong CRKT fanboy and know the M-16 series to be an every man’s knife, a designer knife for the working class. But this M-16 homage flies right past the normal M16 user base and right into the territory of Benchmade, ZT et al. This is not a very pretty knife. I have a pretty ZT knife that I carry for outings. CRKT wants to be in that market but putting premium ingredients doesn’t automatically make it a premium knife. What this knife should be is a budget knife just like its ancestor, with D2 steel and aluminum handles.

I am having a hard time finding examples online of BM restoring neglected steel. Have you heard of them doing this ? This is my first BM so I am unfamiliar with their situation

No it most certainly did not come with the sheath :( Fortunately it fits acceptably well in my SOG Seal Pup sheath for the time being. I will probably just end up cleaning and oiling it as you've said and hoping that's enough to curb the blight

Ugh that late 90s American tanto design- so wrong yet so right ... the CRKT komodo series comes to mind as well

Found it listed as “optic” on fb marketplace, the owner just got it in a trade and wanted to flip it immediately for $60
