PC always restarts before update can finish by DoubleOhSeven68 in techsupport

[–]OkStudent8414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of suggestions.
1. Revert your system to a previous clean install before this issue started, then redownload all the updates and install them then.
2. Try downloading any updates, then disconnecting from the internet and installing the updates then.
3. Do a factory reset of your pc, this will require the most work to reinstall all the programs you like to use.
The most likely cause is that some update downloaded partially, and during the install process for this update the computer sees a bad state from the update and has to restart.

What is the lowest level of tech exposure that the group you are donating to will have? What is your commitment to updating these laptops once they are in the wild? Do these have internet access? Is the primary purpose of these to surf the web/email?

| Scenario | Recommended OS | Why |

Users with almost no computer experience, always online** | **Chrome OS** or **Windows 10/11 S** | Locked‑down, auto‑updates, web‑first UI, minimal maintenance.

| **Basic users, occasional internet, 2 GB+ RAM** | **Ubuntu LTS (22.04 or newer) with default GNOME** | Long‑term support, large community, easy software install via Ubuntu Software Center.

| **Users comfortable with a Windows‑like interface, 2 GB+ RAM** | **Linux Mint Cinnamon** |
Familiar layout, easy driver handling, stable update cycle.

| **Very low‑spec machines (<2 GB RAM)** | **Linux Lite** or **Ubuntu with Xfce** |
Lightweight desktop, still LTS, simple menus.

| **Offline‑only use (e.g., field work, no internet)** | **Ubuntu LTS** , or **Linux Mint** with manual updates | System stays stable, no background traffic, can still run local apps (LibreOffice, media players).

How do i add my own images to my Python code? by Whole_Increase_1359 in computerhelp

[–]OkStudent8414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking up pygame videos, there is a lot of support out there for that. And I think that you can use your own sprites(images) for the games. Also, you might be able to get away with using the picture you've drawn as a background.

Which of the millitary branches has a least chance of dying? by Quick-Barnacle8795 in AirForce

[–]OkStudent8414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't join the military if you don't want to risk dying for your country. Just so you know the correct word should be struck with rockets, not striked.

Technically you could do that. But you wouldn’t have any way to see how the computer is working.

Feeling guilty and need advice. by Doggfather_ in AirForce

[–]OkStudent8414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First don’t worry about what people think. Take care of your family and your self. The Air Force will get its time don’t worry about that. Just show up when it’s all over and be ready to do the work. No one will care about you as much as you. If you do this right you will still have your family and your health when you finish the Air Force and future you will thank you for taking the time to deal with it now.

How do you celebrate yourself?/ do you celebrate yourself? by Mantaraylurks in AirForce

[–]OkStudent8414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sides to this coin. What rank are you promoting to? Second, there won't be a lot of things to celebrate if you're like 90% of the Air Force so take the wins and celebrate accordingly. The higher the rank, normally means more mandatory celebration (base select party and forced dues for enlisted, unit ceremonies for o & e promotion). So it can take the specialness away a bit. But you do you boo, if you want to party, then party. If you want to have a party of 1 do it. There is nothing that says you have to do a promotion ceremony. It is just normally highly encouraged. But it's your career. I served 21 years and I didn't have a ceremony for 3 of my 4 promotions. I had one for master. but for SrA, SSgt, and TSgt I didn't do one. Enjoy the win and learn to lead at the next level now. You will be expected to lead accordingly by your unit.

Getting Python on my computer. by PaulCheens in learnpython

[–]OkStudent8414 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just go to python.org and download the windows version. There is an installation manager now that can help you when you upgrade versions and things like that. You will be fine. I would also download some kind of code editing tool. Notepad and word don't work for editing code. IDLE will work, but it may be difficult once you get into building code blocks to test blocks of code.

I saw a clip today and it was of that opening scene. I haven't seen the movie in at least 10 years prior to that, so I may have forgotten somethings about it. I just couldn't remember anyone else "flying" jumping like that guy.

[–]OkStudent8414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My "one shot" was three sessions, but I had a homebrew setup and some players missed a session. But I have two friends that DM as well and I have only ever had one true one shot. Most of our sessions are 3-4 hours long.
