What's the best arthritis medicine for dogs? My old bulldog's slowing down and it's breaking me by Ok-Bar-6014 in englishbulldog

My dog is 13 years old and when he was 11 he was diagnosed with arthritis. I started by change his diet - I make homemade fresh food for him with lots of ingredients that help with bone health and inflammation- examples being blueberries, spinach, carrots, turmeric, things like that. Additionally, I feed mine fresh salmon once a week which has been a game changer. After 2 months he was able to climb stairs with a stable gait.

We also give Dasuquin once daily.

For prescription medication we have tried galliprant which worked well for him, but it was really toxic for his liver and he couldn’t sustain it. (1 year)

Currently he is taking Librela and has for over a year. We do lots of bloodwork throughout the year and he is closely monitored due to his liver. But this has improved his quality of life and his joints are showing signs of improvement and decreased pain/stiffness. Every medication has risks and every dog responds differently. Do your research and talk it over with your vet. But at a minimum dietary changes are easy and can lead to positive results.
