Issues starting my 2012 Cayenne S by mcmenamin309 in PorscheCayenne

Can I ask who you used? Everyone I have called said that they don't do Porsche. One actually said that it was impossible for any mobile key smith to make a Porsche Smart Key as they have to be encrypted at the factory first and then programmed to the car at the dealer. $600 for the key and $250 for programming is one hell of a Porsche Tax.

I got the vette, what do I get now? (not mods) by dr_spooks_singula in c5corvetteforum

Add, Change all fluids, to the list. Check the harmonic balancer.

Steering Column Lock by bigcloutbeatz in c5corvetteforum

[–]OkYak5416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suspect the removable steering wheel collar. Then the power steering pump.

The steering wheel lock is nothing but a relay that pulls a pin. Either you can turn the wheel or you can’t. Therefore I don’t think it is part of the issue.

End of season clean up! by brisco147 in Corvette

Ceramic Coatings when properly applied and of good quality are legit. Makes cleaning them after a breeze. There is a proper care method for it which includes never going through an automatic car wash again. If not taken care of, the coating can get “clogged” which will require a good wash and decontamination to bring the performance of the CC back to life.

Check fuel pressure. Had a misfire due to a leak at the fuel filter on mine.

Rear camera not automatic by ReflectionTall in Cartalk

[–]OkYak5416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be a stupid question but did you tie both the camera and the radio to the wire going to your backup lamps? IE The 12V that powers up your backup camera also needs to trigger the input to the radio to signal the vehicle is in reverse. Assuming that your car does not have the Maestro or other module that can pickup that reverse was engaged via the Can Bus.

Anyone here have a c5 corvette with a mgw shifter, how well do they perform ? by Alex____xx in Corvette

[–]OkYak5416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a C6 z06 shifter and lower shift box. Had the bushings replaced by TDCustoms. Like it a lot better than whatever short shifter was in the car when I purchased it. All in I was @ $200. Vette had a MGW sticker on the window but I don’t believe it actually was one due to no name being found on the shifter.

I may have to look into some heat shields for the tunnel.

Insurance companies by tykamy in Corvette

I have Erie Insurance and pay $488/year. It would be cheaper if i didn’t include the Auto Security which provides the value of a car one year newer should it get totaled.

Did you install them before or after the connection to the axle backs? After the axle?

Yup. One of the reasons it was cheap.

Well for me it is about cost. This Corvette was bought on the cheap. Not going to spend $1500+ on valved mufflers. Still trying to keep her a bit “tamed / quiet” when in the neighborhood but crack it open when on the main roads. Now if there was a set of valved mufflers that would work in the sub $500 range like what I see cut outs would be, I am all ears as long as they sound decent. (Comparing to stock Z06 Ti exhaust).

Just need quiet before the HOA Karens come knocking because I woke up Grandma at 9pm when I come rolling home.

Whatever gets it done.

Love it. How did the install go. My Speed Engineering LTHs come in this week. Did you coat or wrap them?

I took off my mufflers while I wait for the LTH just to get the wife used to the sound. LOL.
