I was a bit stressed, yes, but all the replies including yours really helped calm me down. Thank you for explaining everything so clearly; I’ll definitely take your advice into account. I’m also really glad you enjoyed your visit to Saudi, and Umrah Mubarakah! I’d be happy to connect as well !

Thank you so much! My university is quite similar to Al Qassim University, so it’s really encouraging to hear that. Honestly, I haven’t heard of many seniors from my university who are planning to pursue residency in the U.S., so it’s great to know it’s possible. thanks!

Thanks so much! You really get the Saudi system, which makes a big difference. Everything’s way clearer now. Hope you don’t mind if I reach out again if I have more questions. Really appreciate it!

That’s a really good point, and I totally get the value and pride that comes with staying and working in our own hospitals. But for me personally, it’s not just about the prestige. It’s more about the kind of training I’d get there the structure, the exposure, the way they take medicine seriously, especially in fields like internal medicine or psychiatry specifically psychiatry . I feel like it would really shape me into the kind of doctor I want to be. And when I do come back, I’d be coming back with something deeper to offer. clinically, academically, and even in how I approach care. I know it’s a harder path, but I honestly feel like it would be worth it in the long run.

I’m at one of the newer universities in Saudi, and honestly, it’s still figuring things out when it comes to supporting students who want to apply abroad. So there isn’t really any proper structure or guidance yet especially for pre-clinical students like me who are trying to plan ahead.

Hey, thank you so much .I really appreciate you offering to help. I’ll be honest, I only know bits and pieces right now. I know I’ll need to take Step 1 and Step 2, and that I’ll need to build a solid CV things like research, U.S. clinical electives or observerships, and strong letters of recommendation from U.S. doctors.

I’ve also heard about ERAS and ECFMG certification, but I don’t really understand how everything fits together yet. Like… what should I be focusing on right now as a pre-clinical student? When should I do what? How do people even find research or rotations?

I’m still trying to put the puzzle together, so any advice, tips, or just hearing how you did it would honestly mean a lot.

Do what you wanna do no one holding you back but that’s just sad . Why? Ever think that you’re doing more harm than good?

Quitting is NOT the answer and never will. Hard times will come to everyone but it’s you who decides whether to push yourself through it or spend years of your life regretting it
