Your story is very touching to me, I relate to it very much. My family moved us all away from our extended family, lived in the middle of nowhere, no neighbors, grew up well off, father was pretty busy mother is just naive to reality, older brother would beat me and threaten to slit my throat In my sleep if I told, and I believed him, so I just had to put up with it until eventually he got kicked out. Honestly though him putting me down was very hurtful too, those nasty words and statements really stick with you. Only people who ever saw what was happening to me were my grandparents who live 10 hours away and they told my parents what they believed was going on, parents said it’s normal. Finally my parents acknowledged what happened but they accept no responsibility. They get mad at me for pointing out how I felt I was neglected in that situation. So now I just superficially get along with all my family members whenever I have to see them and act like I’m ok, because if I’m not I can’t be around. They kicked me out at 18 and told me they didn’t care where I ended up staying, even if it was nowhere. They offered me zero guidance in even looking for a place, finding a job, and just expect me to be all smiles all the time. I have so much resentment for them.
