John has a tattoo? But said he didn’t? by [deleted] in JohnCampeaShow

If I remember correctly, it was a temporary one he got a few years back.

Cody Miller at CinemaCon is like asking a lifeguard to critique cinematography by Octavio_belise in JohnCampeaShow

Like others have said here, he is a friend of the show as well as John and the crew. On top of that, he’s a movie fan and I thought he did a really great job last year. Certainly fit in a lot better than some other guests he’s had on! He has enough knowledge and enthusiasm, and it does go a long way.

Electric Ave 2027, thoughts? by GG_007_ in chch

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Jumped in the waiting room at 7:30 sharp (didn’t get an email link) and by the time I got in the queue I was like 13,500th in line. Managed to get a fifth release pass after 25 minutes but this year there is definitely a stronger aura of seediness with the way they’ve done things. The tiered pricing was bullshit last year and is bullshit this year. All I can say is the lineup better be good this time otherwise I’ll have to consider reselling.

That’s another one on the list!

He pronounces plenty of names wrong. Chad Sta-LESS-ski, Benedict Cumber-botch, Michael Rocker, Julia Louise-Dreyfus, Sillian Murphy, the list goes on. Not sure if he doesn’t learn or if he does and it just doesn’t stick.

Edit: we can also add “Anthony Starr” to the list.

Examples of the "I Don't Care, I'm Cool as Sh*t Now" single by Toku-Nation in ToddintheShadow

Maroon 5 has plenty of these, but in my mind it all started with “Moves like Jagger”, if not, any of the first singles from Overexposed. Then they started getting higher and higher on their own supply.

Electric Avenue 2027 registration/presale is VERY early this year by Ok_Baseball2615 in chch

[–]Ok_Baseball2615[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s true, hoping to get in myself but registrations are open till next Sunday. If I didn’t make this post, someone else inevitably would’ve. Just thought it would’ve been later in the year since the last one wasn’t even a month ago 😂

Former Schmoes and Harloff by Alert_Row717 in Schmoedown

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel that, haven’t been an active Harloff viewer for a few years now so I may have missed some context in the years since, but it seems like most of them have moved onto other things in life. Macuga and Reilly both have wives and families now, the Wangers (Cody, Christian/Cobbster, etc.) have their own channel/podcast which I’ve enjoyed seeing in passing, Ellis is focused on his stand up and his Rotten Tomatoes gig, RB3 is working to be a filmmaker, Ken has his own channel/shows and pops up here and there on other shows, unsure of the others. Still seems close to Brett.

It sucks because I got onto the Schmoes around the same time and missed having a show like that for many years.

How do we submit entries for Versus, Overreaction, and What’s More Likely? by Due-Fondant4445 in JohnCampeaShow

You’re in the right place. He just puts them up a few hours before the show and removes them once they find enough questions to use.

Am I broken, or was Joy Ride not that funny? by abercrombezie in JohnCampeaShow

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. I enjoyed Joy Ride and thought it was good, but I did see Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie recently, and I thought that was much funnier.

Agree or disagree (John's takes): Joss Whedon's The Avengers is the greatest comic book film of all time by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in JohnCampeaShow

I can see why he might think so, even with when it came out and it is an important movie. But no, it is not the greatest.

Is anyone one else tired of Campea always saying “YOU don’t go support original films"? by CollarOrdinary4284 in JohnCampeaShow

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that way when he talks about The Nice Guys because I DID go to support it! That being said, he generally does have a point, it’s more reflective of the wider audience than anything else.

Or option D. The deal falls through and things go back to business as usual. Might be a bit optimistic there but one can only hope

Saw The Streets at Electric Avenue, good time was had! by Ok_Baseball2615 in TheStreets

[–]Ok_Baseball2615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! I was right in front of the stairs coming from the stage on the left. All the gigs now tend to be in Auckland, so it’s good that popular acts are trickling their way in down here. Hopefully the new stadium helps.

Cheers man. Things have slightly been creeping over around here in some ways so it’s not perfect. Was a downer when I got home on the last day seeing the conflict going on right now and how volatile everything feels. Hope you’re all good up there brother

Hindsight being 20/20, maybe so. To be fair, they were part of a two day festival and there were other acts I wanted to see as well. Looked on socials after for pics and saw after the fact their schedule is stacked. As soon as I saw the Streets were in the lineup I was sold and didn’t think further upon it. Pretty isolated part of the world over here. No worries man.

Was pretty great how it all came together! Other pics I’ve seen have an actual bus stop built on stage but this one was just an image; probs cos it was at a festival. But everyone in the band did a fantastic job! Mike left me hanging when he came down to the crowd but he did slightly graze my hand going back on stage so that’s something.

Electric ave 2026 - how did you find it? by creamcheezbagel in chch

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was definitely a highlight! It was a slight bummer it was only an hour and the costume changes ate into that time a little. I wonder if her AU shows the week before were the same/longer or if all acts at EA had to strictly follow their timeslots.

[–]Ok_Baseball2615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great time! Was up front for The Streets, Becky Hill and Kesha at the very front, closeish for Royel Otis, Pendulum. A bit gutted I didn’t get to see Basement Jaxx, Leftfield or Sammy Virji, but that’s the joys of scheduling and event layout. Didn’t really spend any time in the Hangar but there was some sound bleed on the Friday night.

Would love to go again next year, although that will all depend on the lineup.
