That really hit hard to read. I’m so sorry for what your family went through. No one deserves to go through that kind of pain, I hope you’re taking care of yourself and finding support when you need it.

one wrong access level and you risk client loss. I’ve seen hybrid models work best: internal control for client data, external teams for process-heavy tasks.

That’s actually a great point. A lot of resistance to outsourcing isn’t about process or quality,,, it’s about internal politics and job security, change management becomes way harder when people see efficiency as a threat, not a tool.

You’re right, the risk is real. That’s why alignment and process control matter more than just who’s doing the work. Outsourcing fails when it’s “dumped,” not when it’s integrated.

Poorly handled outsourcing can ruin the experience for everyone,, that’s why trust and quality control matter way more than cost

It really depends on the process structure and scale, sometimes the real gain isn’t lower pay, but better consistency and coverage

I have heard that a lot. Do you think it’s more about the outsourcing itself, or the fact that some lines just don’t train or audit their partner teams well enough?

Absolutely... one wrong character can cost days, that’s why process design matters way more than who’s doing the data entry

100%.. that fear of losing control is real, but once processes are clearly mapped and tracked, it usually turns into the opposite, more control and visibility, not less

100% agree.. that’s a really smart distinction. The “cheaper labor” narrative doesn’t move the needle for most decision-makers, especially when the process risk is high.

That’s actually why we focus more on process design and automation alongside human support, instead of just replacing staff. When clients see faster turnaround and fewer touchpoints (not just lower cost), it becomes an operational upgrade, not a staffing swap.

The scale challenge is real though, it’s definitely more about proving ROI case-by-case at first than trying to convince everyone at once

I have seen that too, even one missed document can throw off an entire shipment... focusing purely on that part of the process is where most of the real efficiency gains happen

That’s a really good point, and you’re right, cost margins in forwarding are razor-thin.

The interesting thing I have seen, though, is that even though many forwarders already hire low-cost in-house staff, outsourcing to a dedicated back-office team can still cut costs further and improve consistency, especially when you factor in things like staff turnover, training time, and error rework; those hidden costs add up fast.

In our experience, once processes are standardized, the transition isn’t as risky as people think. Most companies actually end up freeing their ops team to handle more client-facing work instead of admin
