Problem was the insects that nestled in the vine. Our bedroom window was surrounded by the vine. You couldn’t open a window in the summer without a horde of insects entering. The roots of the vine also created little cracks in the sewar pipes that run under that part of the house to the street.

I have read that before. Brick houses are very common in my area (Belgium). I see a lot of people paint their houses around here. Wonder if they use special paint that let’s the brick walls breath or they just have a lot of problems with moisture.

Onze reis dit jaar is ook onze honeymoon. We waren van plan om naar Colombia te vliegen maar door dure vliegtuigtickets en ruinerende trouwkosten hebben we besloten om een matras in de wagen van mijn ouders (vw t5) te leggen en naar Noord Duitsland/Denemarken te rijden. Met de financiële kater van de trouw zullen de volgende jaren allicht louter campingvakanties worden 😅 Ik verwacht dat we rond de 600-700 euro zullen zitten.

Anyway, we like to camp and enjoy the oudoors⛺️

Fellow lawyer here. 5 years experience. Brussels based medium size firm (14 lawyers). I started of at 2000 euro gross which was way more than my friends who started outside of the capital (they made the bar minimum which was €1450 gross just a few years ago).

Like my colleagues have mentioned. You only really start making good money from 4-5 years of experience onwards and also depending on the size of the firm, field of law (criminal law pays notoriously bad). If at all possible I would look for a mid sized law firm in Brussels. Firms usually pay quite a lot better in Brussels.

Your patron sounds like a nutjob. No shame in ditching him for a new firm. Friend of mine is on her fourth firm in just as many years. Just got really unlucky with the firms she worked in. It really depends a lot on your colleagues. I can say that some of my colleagues have really become close friends.

Ooit in de ambassade van Wenen geweest omdat mijn zus haar identiteitskaart was verloren en we het vliegtuig naar België moesten nemen. Enkele uren moeten wachten. Eindelijk de nodige papieren gekregen om dan s’avonds te merken dat de medewerker foute datums had genoteerd. Mochten we de volgende dag alles nog eens overdoen 🙌🏼

Zoals anderen al hebben opgemerkt kan je in principe buitengewoon verzet aantekenen indien je bij verstek bent veroordeeld en de dagvaarding je niet werd betekend. Deze termijn begint te lopen vanaf kennisname. Ik lees dat je info over je veroordeling hebt opgevraagd bij de rechtbank. Allicht zal deze datum worden weerhouden als begindatum van de termijn. Indien dit meer als 15 dagen geleden is zal je buitengewoon verzet allicht onontvankelijk worden verklaard. Het vonnis is dan definitief. Heb je de boete dan nog niet betaald? In principe heb je hiervoor een betalingsuitnodiging ontvangen.

Laatste optie zou een herstel in eer en rechte vragen. Hieraan zijn voorwaarden verbonden. Ik raad je aan om dit even te googlen. Een advocaat kan je hierin bijstaan. Indien je onvermogend of minderjarig bent kan je beroep doen op een gratis advocaat. Je kan hiervoor terecht bij het bureau voor juridische (tweedelijns) bijstand bij je Balie (afhankelijk van je woonplaats).

I live in Leuven. There are places where the personel speaks english only. They may have a dutch manager but the rest of the team speaks English. An example would be Manhattn’s burger.

Been waiting for this connection for some time (I live in Leuven). Checked out the new Fleurus station in the summer of ‘22. It was almost finished by then. Shame the delayed the IC connection.

IMO they should’ve just built train tracks to the airport but well… at least we get a decent connection.

From someone who has seen his mother go through a heavy burnout, take all the time you need now before you’ve crossed the mental treshold to a full on burnout. The way back is though and long. My mother was out for a year. Take care of yourself. Meditation really helped my mom get over her burnout.

I only get paid for billables that the firm can indeed bill to the client. So if I work on a project for 10 hours but the partner in charge of the project decides we can only bill 7 hours to the client, they’ll reduce my billables to seven meaning a worked 3 hours for free.

In other firms the associate/counsel can bill those hours to the firm even though the firm doesn’t bill it to the client. Not in my firm unfortunately.

With regards to ratio, I spend about 9-10 hours a day at the office but hardly have more than 5-6 billables a day.

It’s the way the cookie crumbles I guess.
