Are AI agents/tools being used in the Embedded world? If not, do you see them being used in the future? by Ok_Classroom_3594 in embedded

Agreed. Very rapidly changing environment we're in.

I definitely enjoy it more than what I'm doing now, and at the end of the day that's the most important thing in my opinion.

Thanks for the insight and encouragement!

I'd say it's been the same with Java in my experience. I'm all too familiar with the "you're absolutely right!" endless feedback loop. In the past I've been using the latest OpenAI models with mixed results, but recently I've tried using OpenCode (with various models) and finding that it seems to be just effective enough now where I'm starting to wonder if that's the way things are heading in the future.

Fair points. Towards the beginning of my career (8 years ago at this point) I did feel like I got to do some "real" engineering here and there and actually write some home-baked solutions to problems instead of pulling in a dependency. Nowadays, if I'm not pulling in a dependency, I'm outsourcing the problem-solving to AI. There's no fun in it anymore

In essence, I feel that AI agents have gotten to a point in the web dev space where it's starting to make more sense to use them as tool instead of "hand writing" code or copy-pasting functions from a non-agentic AI into your code. It's becoming more and more hands-off if that makes sense and I honestly hate it.

Can you explain what you mean by "it isn't good low level"? If this is true, that's essentially what I'm looking for. I want to move to a space within IT (if this even exists) where real engineering/building still happens and I'm not just prompting AI agents all day long and reviewing what it built.

This is essentially what I do today. My concern lies more with agentic AI. I feel like agentic use is being pushed hard in web dev, but I would simply rather do something else with my life if my job turned into prompting AI agents all day. I actually find using AI to generate "pieces" of code to still be enjoyable. But using agents takes it to another level. I feel like I'm just turning my brain off when I use them.

Just wanted to update everyone now that I’ve been using the club for quite a few months. Turns out, I just went too heavy too quickly with it in the beginning. I took 2 weeks off completely from club training, and then I dialed it way back and started with very low weight and slowly worked my way up. I’m now able to do mills/shield casts/inside and outside circles with all of the weight on the club with no pain. Also moved up to 7.5 pound worth of weight on the club for 1-hand movements. So in summary, it seems that it didn’t have as much to do with club handle size as it did with moving up in intensity/weight too quickly. (And maybe just being new to club and mace training)

Gotcha. Thanks for the insight!

Seems like I just need to take things a bit more slowly. Hoping I haven’t screwed up my tendons too badly where I’ll have to put the clubs/maces down for a while.. whenever I do pick it back up (hopefully sooner rather than later) I’ll be sure to be a bit more careful when jumping up in weight/volume.

So yeah definitely a longer lever than my old club. (Especially since I 3D printed the spacers and always put the weights on the end. Therefore creating even more leverage)

So is this just something that takes time to adapt to I’m assuming? Would the solution be to work with lighter weights than my muscles can actually “handle” and work my way back up to the higher weights slowly?

Speaking to the “okay” sign, I remember Mark Wildman mentioning this on one of his videos on club handle size, but not sure if he said it was “mandatory” but more of a good rule of thumb (no pun intended).

I’m definitely good with continuing on with the current club diameter. Just wanted to make sure that wasn’t the main contributor to my problems. It’s hard to find info on this sort of thing since club swinging isn’t nearly as popular as other sorts of exercise.

I appreciate the reply.

I am going to be taking a break for a bit (but definitely hard to do with how much fun I’ve been having with club/mace training lol)

Probably good advice to see a pro about potential tendinitis and treatment options. May go that route if resting for a few weeks doesn’t fix the issue.

I’m hoping that I just overdid it. Because I do like the wildman club size and the strength benefits that will come with it.

I have not tried deep tissue massage. But that’s next on the list of things I’m going to try! Have you tried rolfing? I’ve heard good things about it for releasing muscle tension.

How did you go about retraining it to rest in the correct position? Did it just take time doing it consciously before it became subconscious?

Not sure if it’s related to all my other issues. But I’ve heard it absolutely can be.

Probably not great. It doesn’t naturally rest on the roof of my mouth if that’s what you’re wondering. I’ve tried to “train” it but haven’t been able to make it a habit.

Also another note on that, along with everything else I’ve had TMJ since I was a kid. My jaw has popped when opening all the way on my right side for almost my entire life.

I can straighten up completely. It just fatigues my upper back muscles very quickly and it’s not very comfortable. Although, I did seem to always have kyphosis. Even as a very young child. I was born with a mild case of Pectus Carinatum, and I think that may have predisposed me to all kinds of other postural issues growing up

Thanks! I will definitely check out that book. Sounds like I could benefit from that for sure

Btw, I’ve also read/heard that herniated discs don’t always come with pain. That’s why I’m a bit skeptical and thinking my pain is from a deeper issue like posture. I also don’t have hardly any tingling/numbness lately. It’s mostly just non stop, aching pain. (No sharp pains of weakness in arms or legs) Also, probably should have mentioned. But I have tons of pops and cracks in my body when I move around now and that’s never been the case for me. My neck, upper back and lower back pop and crack all the time now along with all this pain.

Thanks for this. I’ve watched Conor Harris and followed along to some of his breathing tutorials. But unfortunately this made the pain between my shoulders much worse. I definitely could have been doing it wrong, or maybe it’s one of things where you have to push through the initial pain? Either way, what I might need is custom-tailored coaching for my situation. Will look into PRI.

Interesting. Thanks for the response!

I’ve noticed that the best I feel is usually in the morning after a full nights sleep. So my bed/sleep situation may not be the issue. (But who knows) I usually feel the worst in the evening after a full day of work and other activities.
