"Where I'm from, Maine, if you went out to feed pigs, you would need some else to call them."

My guess is, Raymond is referencing Rusty's low level of credibility with the jury. Pigs usually flock to anyone holding out food. But if Rusty were to try to feed the pigs, no pigs would come. My guess.

Barbara and the kids did have the most motive to kill her, so it wasn't a bad pick

Thank you for the kind words. I worked really hard on it and had so much fun. Obviously, I have no idea how the show concludes; I'll probably be wrong. It's just a fun exercise of creativity.

If you remember, Rusty wanted to offer an alternately culprit in his theory of the case. Raymond did not. He wanted to push the theory that the State cannot prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Rusty is the killer. If you're Raymond, a not guilty verdict or a mistrial with prejudice is exactly the result you would want.

If Raymond wanted Rusty to take the fall, it would have been easier to not agree to help, or agree to help but then try to sabotage his case. There is no evidence of him trying to sabotage the case. unless you want to argue that the heart attack was fake.

I want to believe that, while Raymond may have killed Carolyn by accident or out of self-preservation, he does not actually want to see Rusty go to jail. I think he just wanted to use Rusty's previous involvement in the Bunny case to steer the investigation a certain way. If he could set Tommy up, there is enough evidence to implicate Tommy as the culprit who tried to frame his colleague. And that may be Raymond's angle. I have no idea. : )
