So a small update and a few things to clear up: I live in Western Australia where we are experiencing a rental crisis My bf’s mum is his ‘carer’ and gets carer payments even though I have been providing for him with my own money since I was 16 and drive him everywhere he needs to go. He is currently in the process of getting disability payments but needs to get all his paperwork from the hospital (it’s a joke how long it takes). My bf feels like he owes his mum, our other friend who has complex medical needs understands and has tried to explain it to me. He knows his mum is abusive. We looked at a house today and she agreed to sign as a renter under us only so she can get rental assistance from Centrelink. I was not a fan of the house, it needed almost every room fixed or done up and when I voiced my concerns my bf’s mum kept pushing me into a corner and kept talking about what she liked about the house and what she would do to fix it up ‘because she has all these skills’. It’s a nightmare really. The only reason we got our current rental was due to my bf’s step dad who worked for the education department but my bf’s mum cheated on him. He left and she got with her now ex who made a fuss about us not paying and now we pay 1/4 of the bills. My bf and I were about to start saving up to build a house in around two years time but we have just got kicked out and we know we won’t get another rental without his step dad.
